  1. Just yesterday Météo- France made the official announcement that 2011 is the warmest year in France Nationaly that is.It made the headlines here yesterday on newspapers and on the tv news. January +0,3 c February +1,2c March +1,2c April + 4c May +2,4c June + 1c July -1,3c August +0,5c September + 2,1c October +1,4c November +3c December aproximately ( Météo-France sources) +2c ( to 2.10 or 2.20c ) It is to note that the warmest 12 month period ever was from June 2006 to May 2007 with the anomaly at a crazy 2.3c . But then it is not on a calendar time scale and it did not made it on the headlines. 2011 then behind 2003 and 1994 13.6c is the 2011 mean average against a 12.15c average but Météo-France still uses the 1971-2000 period. Aaron with 5 months above the 2c anomaly but yes in" the wrong months ", it is still an extraordinary year for temperature! But then never beats the June 2006 to May 2007 period!!!which was worrying with its anomaly!!!!!!
  2. Very true, i remember vividly March 2005 on the morning of the 1st March we had -9c, not sure if monthly record or daily record for Orly airport. The lowest winter spring( meteorological one) temp. And it was with snow too.I remember it also as we had 22c just barely 2 weeks later!!!!! also nearing record or daily record. The end of February was cold too.
  3. On this xmas day it stared rather cloudy then some clear sunny spells appeared rapidely mid morning up till 1 pm then clouds again but some timids spells were seen during afternoon. Almost no sensible wind so made it quite nice when under sunshine ( was at parents' garden facing south in a sunny spell , felt nice for a few mins) with a max of 9.4c in Orly and a low of 4c at midnight sharp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have records for some stations concerning pressure and not far here at 1038.4 hPA for now and rising !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. A funny year indeed , but would not say rubbish. we in for the warmest calendar yeear for France nationaly.May was good here too. June bit less but a few stations recorded the highest june temp near Paris 36.6c 11 month in the warm against one in the cold for 2011 nationaly !! As a weather lover , i just get what is on offer!!! ( otherwise if i can afford i travel!!!) Ps the weather now has a good advantage though : am saving on my heating bills!!!
  5. Oh Aaron could have put the same words ,i was too lazy to do shopping after work tonight looked packed this evening ! And same mild, light rain now wind slowly starting to be felt
  6. not sure how is this year going to rank in uk but in France it is now sure to be the warmest year ( calendar year) nationaly. And found it for switzerland in French : http://www.meteosuis...atologique.html In brief : Anomaly 2c for 2O11 highest ever since 1864 with the first 4 months extremely dry and warm.Hottest spring for 150 years. November saw record very dry period in the north of country and record temps in montain stations. And in France : http://climat.meteofrance.com/chgt_climat2/bilans_climatiques/archives/2011/bilan2011?page_id=15103 record breaking spring plus second warmest autumm and coolest july for 30 years ( the only month with a negative anomaly).
  7. Good evening all, Not sure about average temps in all mentioned areas on the different posts but here we are 6c above average for today's reading .December is getting a pretty good positive anomaly in some areas in France!! Today , reached 11.7c in Orly airport and 12.1c in Paris Montsouris. The odd short sunny spell was hard to come by.Morning started with the best sunny spells quickly became more overcast and continued like that all day with the odd sunny spell ( well not sure the sun showed itself entirely) l.Turning completely overcast now. It is the low temps that are quite noticeable yesterday lowest for Paris 10.2c and now still 10.8c Paris Montsouris did not see below 10c since 21st december 2 pm till now! so quite a nice spell of warm.
  8. Here in France some stations are still managing a good anomaly as for example Bordeaux- Mérignac average night temp 7.9c ( plus 4.1c) and average daytime max 13.7c ( plus 3c) Makes it the warmest first 2 decades for a December month before and since 2002.Nationaly the anomaly was just a touch below 4c for the first 15days. It surely went down a bit after this weekend .
  9. Hello to all, I am not a moaner either , i take what comes ,( even though would prefer something else) Just wanted to tell you , we need to be patient sometimes ( ok very patient sometimes) as like what happened in March 2005 with snow on the 2th march and 4th march here in Paris, and an extroardinary -9.4c for Orly airport near Paris for the 1st March. The coldest minimum temp for the winter and one of the coldest temp in the last 10 years or more ( 8th january 2010 i think is the coldest since a long time - 13.3c ) Sorry that is in french : http://france.meteofrance.com/jsp/site/Portal.jsp?document_id=22107&portlet_id=52011&page_id=14093 So never loose hope with the weather !!!!!
  10. Welcome in the snowless land of Paris , same for me ,last year brought back memories of when i was very young in 1985 .
  11. Morning to all : In Orly Airport 3.9c currently Lowest 0.9c ( 8 30 am , did not even manage to go below zero!!!!) Pressure 1017.9 hPA Yesterday was partly sunny with some light rain in the late afternoon early evening then becoming partly cloudly.( it was annouced with sleet or possible snow and nothing of that sort of course!!!!). A beautiful blue sky this morning, but showers forecasted this afternoon with possible sleet or snow ( not holding on the ground). Wind was from the W now veering NW, but no more than 4miles. Still beautiful blue sky up to now.
  12. We certainly have to keep our good eyes to the coming runs!!!and keep our heads clear!!! Out of topic but all is back to normal for trains .....They put great human resources to clear tracks and so on as this evening is the end of school off for xmas holidays so loads were heading to take transportation ( exept me ,am staying !!!!) But now eyes on to the Atlantic once again! and the runs!
  13. No not as bad , i think in the South West people took it very seriously as most are still traumatized by the Xynthia storm in february 2009 where they had submersive sea and the fatalities that resulted. First time i received a texto from my inssurance conpagny yesterday afternoon to warn me of possible strongest wind in my area!!!! The storm was well talked about yesterday on the news. Still windy here not far off 40 miles for strongest gusts! And can see a few branches here and there, on the ground, just one or 2 larger ones, from my balcony
  14. Well morning all, Found some articles but in French. Here in Paris area the wind was less stronger than forecasted.Strongest gust for my area was just above 55 miles around 8 am. 8 am being when a good heavy rain band struck here ,was brief but quite intense ,leading to a very good cummulative traffic jam in the Paris area.Surely many who took the car came late at work! Rain is the main feature nearing 27mm since 8 pm for my area to 9 am today. Up to 370 000 households are without power. No Major damages but quite a lot of few minors ones from south west France to North east :France:http://www.leparisien.fr/environnement/en-direct-tempete-joachim-coupures-d-electricite-et-trains-paralyses-16-12-2011-1771144.php Clermont Ferrand is one of places with the highest inland wind with a bit over 85 miles this morning.
  15. Saturday we could have a bit of snow but not on ground, sleet or snow , but for now gusts still a bit above 50 miles and still rain and rain , and around 10c
  16. Quite a noticeable difference of temperatures on the side of the LP nearing 12c in what 250km may be 160 miles not bad!!!
  17. 102 Kh in Cherbourg : http://www.infoclima...FR-details.html Cherbourg being at proximity of the low center Our eyes on the same spot at same moment!!! And 11C for now in Paris and still rising!!!
  18. Some nice rain now in my part of suburbs, all with some strong gusts Closer to 45 miles now.
  19. Not sure really if we are going to get annouced values but all of a sudden wind really picking up here. Here for average wind speed : Strongest winds really hitting Brittany soon i would expect. Nearing 40 miles gusts in Paris area.Slowly rising speed.
  20. Funny it is the same thing i was thinking when getting back home fairly pleasant when hardly a wind and ease of rain ( 10c now!!so pleasent when no wind!!) then a sudden gust. Then nothing again!
  21. Not really sure what it does to south Coast of uk but this morning i saw that:http://expert-images...1600_2_1500.gif and now i see that ( much closer to south UK coast) :http://expert-images...1600_2_1518.gif not sure what it does bring?
  22. Apparently storm is moving a bit slower than forecasted .
