  1. Let's hope they become electrical I am storm starved haha thanks Nick. Only issue it they appear to be building rapidly and then dying off (sods law) !!
  2. So being a novice here Nick are the cells that have developed likely to shift west - east then looking at the charts posted there? Have I looked at these right?
  3. The cell has popped up and in the last 15 mins has continued to build and build quite rapidly while staying what appears to be stationary on the radar currently... Yup thats what I am seeing bud. Do you have a map of the convergence zone area and also wind direction etc? For some reason this laptop won't allow me to open the charts...
  4. Some rapid developments on the radar just to the west of Durham City and just to the south of Darlington - not sure at this stage whether it will amount to much - is anyone who has access the 5 min radar able to post a pic of these areas? (I really need to subscribe again!)
  5. Yep sky has gone from grey clag to milky (ish) now - it is still warm and humid though.
  6. Yes I think that's the ones I am looking at - well from Lincs to the Humber that particular area appears to have come alive in the past half hour or so.. Here's hoping matey!
  7. Great to see and hear of reports from other members more south and west. Up here it has been grey and claggy and it feels like the humidity is getting worse. Really not comfortable conditions for me. On another note it appears convection is initiating south - north on the eastern side of England to - around Hull area? I am thinking convective in nature due to the rapid growth on the radar. Hope it makes it way steadily further north as I feel a tad storm starved
  8. Seeing some Cumulonimbus clouds / towers going up to my south here so maybe in line with the "isolated" storm risk Nick was going on about. Wish I was a tad further south for this event but I am still excited and enjoy the enthusiasm in some posters when the lightning strikes their area.
  9. It was fairly fresh up here this morning but feels quite muggy now - my worst kind of heat. Give me 30+ of "dry" heat any day than this like.
  10. Nice to see the Meto extending an amber warning to some parts (me included). Can't wait to see what happens but I am not getting my hopes up too much as it avoids the disappointment!
  11. Big loud crack of thunder here in Manchester (East) now. The storm must be building somewhere as on Raintoday I can't really see anything other than light rain over this location...
  12. In Manchester with work tonight and some great convection going up all around. Thought I heard some thunder about 45 mins ago (ish) but not sure. Skies looking quite angry but not sure if there is going to be a "proper" storm here yet. Muggy feel in the air though..
  13. Nice little storm to my south currently just seen a couple CtoG's and a few rumbles seems to be getting closer and looks like might be a direct hit....
  14. Bit of a breeze here but the air is warm and the sun still beating down. It's perfect beach walking weather this. Can't help but notice the juice line appearing to the south of this region around the Sheffield area....hope it continues to build and tap in to some diurnal heating just a small storm would satisfy my hunger today!!
  15. Well a lovely bright sunny morning here so hoping that can build some heat before the CF gets here in a few hrs. Good on those who experienced some activity overnight looks lively in some areas!
  16. True and a good point Crewe - although I am more than inclined to keep more of an open mind but point taken on board mate. As for tomorrows potential I think we are looking at PM for storms to start (in this locale) if any - really would like some lengthy lightning activity. I think for some tomorrow could be a long day!!
  17. Study 1: Electromagnetic waves could be responsible for triggering headaches, they suggested, while lightning also increases air pollutants like ozone and can cause release of fungal spores which may result in migraines, researchers suggested. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/9824127/Lightning-may-cause-headaches.html
  18. BBC weather shows thundery intense downpours mainly from midlands up in to northwest England moving north and then straddling west-east by 4pm across NW & NE England. Hope it comes off!!
  19. Well latest BBC weather video (updated around 5pm) suggest naff all for here and said the east not to write the day off. The graphics even show the storms / downpours out west and fizzling away as they cross the Pennines.... radar watching and hopecasting is the form horse for me now
  20. Problem is though that they can't really predict exact location of downpours as such and where any storms may crop up. Take with a pinch of salt and radar watching and nowcasting in these situations - always saves me a lot of headache!
  21. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=warnings&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1400540400&regionName=ne I am happy with that from my perspective on Tuesday - but saying that we've had warnings before and nothing happen so nowcasting and an exciting afternoon radar watching for me after work!
  22. I know mate - I sat here ages thinking should I / shouldn't I now it's too late by the time I would get up there. I am game to meet others in the NE for chasing too for future possible events. For now I will radar watch and drool like my Dogue De Bordeaux :-))
