    Pic before the storm and a sample of the hail battering the cars - I cant post the vids yet as I am effing and blinding so needs editing first.

    Cheers mate - street is like the Tyne the houses at the bottom are beginning to flood now - that was a once in a lifetime for me I have never seen a hail like that and certainly not heard about it in Tyne and Wear.

    Can someone confirm this storms structure my car is currently being pounded and I mean pounded by chunks of ice!! Got videos of this I have never ever seen anything like it my car is taking some battering

    At the moment the sky is like a thick pea soup mammatus and constant flickering but you can see a black outline in what I think would be called the edge of an anvil but not that experienced. I have pics just need to work out how to upload!!

    Exactly mate plenty of energy there but it as moving north then appeared to move more northeast on last radar return -

    Forked lightning to my west now - gonna go try and grab some pics but looks like it may be losing power on the radar - can anyone confirm?

    Has this storm veered more to the north east now rather than the more northerly track? I can hear constant rumbling now

    Sky to my south west is very ominous now and theres a fair bit of that mammatus ahead of it here now too - is that a good sign?

    Just called the power grid and it appears that there are a fair number without power including me but should be resolved by 6.30pm

    I'm in Chester let street too and was constant really was a brill storm. Local newspaper has reports on aircraft diverting from the airport around the stor a cracking lightning strike in Gosforth http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/local-news/north-east-news-live-latest-9548511

    HOnestly one of the best storms I have seen - cant ever remember hearing thunder like it - loads of cloud to ground and shotgun thunder close by

    Proper booming thunder now - looks like its changed shape on the radar returns but going very dark here now
