    Well just started pouring with snow here none through the night but a good dusting now sticking everywhere so at least we are seeing something at last!

    Nope just plain old Gas I am afraid. I love extreme weather in any form. I find the climate interesting of late despite all the bad news stories. Things are out of kilter so to speak. And to top it all off I love the cold and snow so a massive bonus for me!

    From memory it was E, NE and I recall a NNE in there somewhere which brought the most disruptive snow to the eastern side of the Pennines. I will try and dig some charts out to show. The easterly was very convective in nature too which is what brought most of the very heavy snow fall / showers. 850's should be -5 or less to get snow proper although it has been known to snow in higher temps than that -1 or -2 850's...

    I agree - we have seen if before and we are in a good position geographically speaking. The only thing to do is to wait and see what happens come T0 but I can't help feeling a bit more optimistic. Just hope it doesn't all go pear shaped!

    Well I don't know about everyone else but I am drooling at some of the outputs lately....we are approaching the reliable timeframes too instead of looking at charts 380 hours ahead. I thought it would be years before we seen something special again (like November 2010) but fingers crossed we are on to something here. Can't wait to hopefully have this thread bumped up with us all excitedly hammering away at our keyboards with snow reports

    The rain is relentless I can't ever remember seeing scenes like that over the North West currently. The Tyne is about to burst it's banks up stream again and Rothbury under threat from the River Coquet in Northumberland. I am currently sat in the dark after a power cut. Cameron needs to get his finger out now and spend a hell of a lot of money in better defenses. Poor folk out there over Xmas flooded out of their properties me heart and thoughts go out to them all.

    Yes it will defo be gone very soon but I was snow starved and a good few hours out there with the scene like a winter wonderland I won't complain. Today has been the best snowfall for a couple of years to be fair.

    Yep been pouring with snow here for 4 hours or so today with no warning. About 3 inches lay and still snowing.

    Thick heavy snow falling here over an inch settled and still falling heavily. Cars stuck on the roads etc really is a nice surprise considering up to half an hour ago there was no warnings

    Cars are completely stuck in the street now can't get up the bank. Glad I'm not going anywhere

    We haven't seen 1 gritter over here to be fair. My street runs down a bank and already cars are getting stuck on spinning wheels. If it goes on any longer it will be a nightmare. Either way though I love it it's like an early Xmas preset haha
