  1. I'm actually liking the track that storm is taking from a selfish point of view - however it will be a miracle if it stays active until it arrives in the north!
  2. Don't know how you can say that - if I was in your locale and that blob was headed north the way that lump is on the radar I'd at least be the "glass is half full" type of guy
  3. Great to read and see the pics of the storms today folks - some very moody skies out there! On another note can anyone shed any light on this weather warning up this way (NE and Scotland) from the Met O? All of the predictions appeared to favour a western and southern affair so I'm at a loss as to why these are out until 11pm tonight?
  4. Looks like the CAP is eroding to the west of Durham now - no sferics yet but unless it's a radar glitch there's something happening at least..
  5. Clouds springing to life this end of the woods now but not convinced they will amount to anything. Some great convection central areas though..
  6. Sferics just south of Warrington now - the NW is exploding..
  7. Sferics around Birmingham now - looks like the CAP may have popped down that area?
  8. To be fair Tony over on UKWW has just put the nail in the coffin for the NE region lol Saying that the NW warning is still out I so all to play for.
  9. Yeah just watching that now. And also with Staffordshire's observations of towers going up now north of Leeds it looks like convection may be starting again.
  10. Edit - the odd Sferic popping up here and there.. I'm really bewildered...nowhere currently seeing any sort of activity I'd have at least expected the odd isolated storm to break out at least somewhere....meanwhile 100 miles out in the North Sea it's a completely different picture!
  11. Ah cheers - yeah was going to say this end of the north Nada!
  12. Where are you referring to? Is that near your location?
  13. I know - just hoping something kicks off again, it doesn't seem right everything has just died a death lol
  14. All dead across this region folks - what time does the warning realistically go up to? Sun is poking back through though so maybe some diurnal heating to get things going?
  15. I think the last storms have done it for here now - there seems to be a bit clag in the sky and the storms coming over the Pennines are petering out. Not sure the CAP will erode this afternoon but who knows...a bit further south from here and the band is re-intensifying again..
  16. These pics from Twitter sent to BBC Weather from the Borders of Scotland today - very impressive!
  17. Yuk - sky is a thick milky haze and humidity feels horrendous...
  18. Not sure if this has been posted update from Metcheck for today: http://www.metcheck.com/UK/warnings.asp Weather Watch For Thunderstorms/Flash Flooding/Hail/Tornadoes An exceptionally moist/unstable plume of air will head Northeast during the course of Tuesday evening and overnight into Wednesday across parts of the British Isles. This Weather Watch has been updated to move the trajectory of the plume slightly further East and reduce risk of large hail/tornadoes due to higher rainfall values which may impede the updraft capability. On Wednesday, the plume fully engages with warm air across the UK bringing torrential downpours across parts of Wales, Northwest and Northern England and Scotland. Rainfall totals of 50-75mm (2-3") of rainfall is possible in a short period of time leading to the risk of local flash flooding and fast swelling rivers across higher ground. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is expected within these systems, especially where they become better organised during Wednesday afternoon across Northern England and Central/Eastern Scotland. Upper air data this morning has reduced the risk of large hail with 2-3cm possible. Higher rainfall totals within the systems are also forecast which will reduce the potential for updrafts which assist in developing tornadoes. That said, where storms become well organised there is a risk of funnel cloud/tornado development. This is most likely around Southeast Scotland on Wednesday morning and across parts of Northeast England on Wednesday afternoon. Disruption to transport/power supplies is possible as well as local flooding on Wednesday. FORECASTER : MARSH ---END---
  19. Storms building nicely around Manchester area now - moving east to NE from the looks of things. Anyone east NE of this area could see some action soon...
  20. Thanks mate - and for those who still haven't a clue here is the description: The altostratus undulatus is a type of altostratus cloud with signature undulations within it. These undulations may be visible (usually as "wavy bases"), but frequently they are indiscernible to the naked eye. These formations will generally appear in the early stages of destabilizing return flows, especially over the southern plains of the United States, when the surface temperature is still relatively cool.[1] The wavy strips of clouds are generally near an inversion surface. So I'm guessing a good sign?
