  1. We have some more initiation around Lancs coast area moving NNE - seems to have burst from nowhere looking at the radar. West of Manchester now...
  2. I would say so mate - it was pretty constant here albeit only seen a few flashes of lightning from the distance, it was more noisy than anything.
  3. All bodes well to get some proper heat going for this afternoon - let's hope the CAP erodes quickly!
  4. I'm sure it means an unstable atmosphere or something but I'm not the best with cloud-scapes lol
  5. Sky went blue before after that line of storms , become hot and humid and now the sky has turned to this.... anyone tell me what clouds these are?
  6. http://en.blitzortung.org/live_dynamic_maps.php says it all doesn't it!
  7. There's some activity out west at the moment but where it lands once it reaches here is any ones guess lol
  8. Same here - to be fair not sure what's happening as the radar is showing intense echos but not really reflected on the ground here. Also the line was supposed to have moved directly over me but not much change in activity..
  9. If you head up the A1 or A19 towards Newcastle / Sunderland you should be able to intercept something which is moving west to east - a lot of activity on the front.
  10. Big crack of thunder near by that long, loud rolling sound how I've missed it! No rain or lightning like..
  11. I can now hear thunder to my south - looking quite active on the radar too - come to daddy! Sky is black to my south now and can hear near constant rumbles of thunder!!!
  12. The lightning map is coming back to life - fingers crossed fellow nor'easterners our time may be coming...
  13. Not looking at the radar - the last update showed the storms headed NE from Blackpool area. Main thing is they need to maintain their intensity...
  14. Sounds ace to me matey! I suspect it's something to do with the fact it was right over you and the area you have there so perhaps the sound bouncing around the hills / mountains? Either that or someone's windows have gone in haha
  15. That's a good sign then - I always fear that the heights around your region will kill off any storms but today doesn't seem to be one of those days! Did the thunder sound like a very loud shot gun going off? If so that means it's pretty much right over head..
  16. That's given me refreshed hope - thanks Nick. Just a question - are the storm moving NE from Blackpool area likely to maintain intensity etc as the head over to the NE region? Sorry this is an IMBY post but just curious. Cheers
  17. Hope so - I just don't want it to fizzle by the time it gets here! It was clear blue skies before and now has become very unstable and convective. The main storms are still a fair distance away unless things break out ahead of the main band.
  18. This set up almost reminds me of the thunder event we had in the NE back in 2012. Storms initiated and trundled from around the Blackpool area and by the time they got over the NE caused power outages, floods and prolific lightning that was to become the best storm event I had ever seen in my time. Storms around Blackpool right now look to be headed NE'ly same as then - I am sitting with all digits crossed that they maintain strength and continue the way they're going! Scotland looks like it's getting a good pasting right now - anyone with reports from that area?
  19. Was about to say that juicy storm passing to the north of Newcastle on it's way to Scotland looks great on the radar. As per previous forecast storms trundling this way now radar active - let's hope they maintain and build as I'd like to see a good storm!
  20. Some good little storms kicking about today. Lovely morning here again so far -- expecting it to get lively as we go through the morning and afternoon as the storm risk shifts over to this side.
  21. Makes it even worse doesn't it that sometimes they can be so out of kilter with what's actually been shown from the Met. (Not just talking about today)
  22. No I wouldn't say that at all looking at the potential..... I've already said ignore the BBC forecast for now?
