  1. It's the fresher air pushing on from the west that will potentially ignite the storms for the north
  2. I agree - and looking at the metoffice video the rain falls across the north in some areas looks really intense from the storms formed by the front moving in from the west over night. As usual we just need to see exactly how this will pan out but I've already booked meself in to work from home tomorrow as I fear a late night tonight!
  3. Wouldn't be so sure about that - see what pans out over night?
  4. Great pics folks thanks for posting! Exciting times ahead. Just seen the metoffice vid and looks like some intense rainfall / storms developing more widely as the day goes on and and the north get's in on the action early hours of tomorrow morning - up to now at least. Love days like this even if I don't get a storm this forum is a buzz for weather freaks like me (and many others)
  5. Well the sun has burned a lot of the murk away here now and it's feeling very humid and wet (air) outside. Not the type of weather I enjoy to be fair - hot and dry not hot and humid is best for me.
  6. Nope died as predicted haha good to see some pics and vids of it earlier though - impressive!
  7. Problem is though from the radar it looks like it's losing its intensity now - it's on a near perfect track to hit it's sods law lol
  8. What's the intensity like - does it look frequent or just a standard affair?
  9. I can't believe it's maintained itself this long! keep me updated as I'm not that far north of you!
  10. Look like a right mover to me mate I was saying that a while back. It's definitely shifted east on its track. I am in line if it maintains intensity which I doubt - but can hope!
  11. Yep new Sferics showing on the map now around that area. Sporadic but definitely some activity again there now
  12. managed to get lightning detector site back again - storm still pretty steady! Heading north - I swear if it's still got some punch I'm intercepting this one as it moves in to the region...
  13. Apparently the water is waist deep in parts of Manchester City centre so plenty flash flooding about - anyone know the strike rate on this thing now?
  14. I'd say looking at that it's a decent amount of lightning - does that record inter-cloud lightning too or only cloud to ground etc?
  15. Bradford area looks in the firing line and if it maintains its intensity / track then possibly (stress possible) Leeds or just to the west of Leeds?
  16. Well it's intensified on the southern edge approaching to the SW of Sheffield now and shifted slightly more east again. It's got some juice this monster mind - they've usually died or fizzled out by now. Let's see the pics !!
  17. Try SK14 1PP - thats just to the east of the city by 8-10 miles should get you there
  18. It's building to the east though - not sure just yet I am not calling a bust by any means. It's shifting ever so slightly east each update. I'm probably wishful thinking but even if it continues direct north it's wouldn't be far from me I'd defo chase. Now the next question is - will it maintain it's electrical activity!
  19. The latest radar grab of the Manchester storm is eye opening - check out those PPN rates!!!!
  20. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/live-updates-trams-suspended-storms-11882590 check out some of the vids of the storm here - wish I was there !
  21. It looks great doesn't it - first time I've tracked one that hasn't fizzled out as it moves north. I'd love for someone to post a thought on the current conditions for this afternoon / evening and risk areas. None of the forecasts actually make sense to me now ...
