Not sure what the GFS Op and Control are playing at. Mainly on the warmer side of the ensembles for now, hope it stays that way! Not bad UKMO and ECM this morning.

The charts are improving today that I admit. I think everyone should be allowed to comment on how they interpret the models instead of throwing judgements left right and centre.

Tell me this then - Where have the sub -10’s and NE’lies gone that were showing up in the models last week ?

The latest synoptics strongly favour Northern regions with the South at mercy of milder incursions. Clearly nowhere near as good as the models were showing a few days ago with everything watered down.

The problem is that we’re seeing a north based NAO! Not yet. The local forecast did show a few showers crossing from late morning I think. But dusting of snow probably reserved for the North Downs.

Good to see ECM coming on board. Hopefully we might see disturbances in the Northerly flow as the uppers below -5c approach us.

About to go for a late long run. When I’m back I wanna see ECM onboard like the others.

Regarding tomorrows snow chances, there’s an ice warning issued for South Eastern most parts - “Issued: 10:43 (UTC) on Sun 7 Jan 2024 A mix of sleet and snow showers will move in from the east later on Sunday night along with temperatures near zero. Given these wintry showers, and also wet surfaces after recent wet weather, some icy patches are likely on untreated surfaces. Additionally a few of the snow showers could turn quite heavy; these probably only affecting a narrow zone but a few places could see 1-3 cm, mainly over the north Downs and on grassy surfaces.” So nothing worthwhile for most of us then.

No one has been predicting a deep freeze except a few on here.

Is unlikely to be widespread unfortunately. Not expecting anything more than a sleety shower here.

Ensembles all over the place again on the GEFS. Nothing after T120 can be trusted.

Poor for Southern regions in a milder S’ flow though.

Not the best UKMO this morning but at least there’s GFS and GEM on board for now. See if ECM follow the Americans.

As long as the shortwave to the SW’ doesn’t move NE’. The Met Office update today is a big worry for the South.

Looks like a decent chance for a dusting in London in a few days according to the GEFS 12z. Also looking decent for the week after too.

How do you mean ?

The FAX charts look mainly dry unfortunately. Even the Met Office site only shows cloud cover but no precipitation!

Just need the ECM to show this at the end of its run tomorrow now!
