  1. Durham looks like missing out yet again. Never seem to get a streamer here.
  2. Maybe 3-4cm on favoured surfaces. Was expecting the N sea to be a bit busier right now TBH.
  3. The buried car is on the road leading up from Cornsay Colliery towards Tow Law, about 500 yards from the pub at Cornsay Colliery. The other one is just starting on the road down to Stanhope from the Pennines just before Crawleyside.
  4. Allow me to recall last year (and why 7cm doesn't seem like much to my boy!). 10 brownie pts for getting the locations right:
  5. Given the decent dumpings we got last year and the fact we've generally had at least one hefty fall every year for a while (plus the fact I drag the kids up to the Pennines whenever there's a big fall), when I told my 8yo boy that his grandparents would be getting a lot of snow, he asked how much... I said, about 7cm (showing him how much that was)... Great NE kid-used-to-snow response: "well that's not much!".
  6. Cheers! Fingers crossed we all get a decent amount, then. Though I think my folks in E Kent will be getting a lot more than me!
  7. Yes, but it was pretty tame compared to what's coming into Newcastle. I'll see what the night brings. Will the winds veer more NEly later?
  8. Looks pretty rubbish in the Durham area. Any hope later on? Or is it basically a Tyneside affair tonight?
  9. Yep. Little sort of mini streamer. Not sure if we'll catch the next one - it's pretty limited but we'll see what happens.
  10. Saturday we get a very limited time with snow. From Leeds south it's much more. Tuesday's lot is coming from the NW - it will affect most of the country, but almost nothing for us. We never do well when it comes from that direction.
  11. We seem to be in the worst place for snow on the 06z... Saturday night we don't get the cold needed for it to be snow until it's past us, whereas the rest of England gets it for hours. After that, W and S look far better than NE.
  12. Happy Winter, doc! I haven't followed it that much - looking good for here or mainly EA/Kent? I know that E'lies tend to be better for there, whereas we ideally want a NE'ly.
  13. Ridiculous. Been snowing since about 5pm here. This was about an hour ago: 30011230_374667059701092_3413430000139894784_n.mp4
  14. I made it to Manchester and back. Seems that many parts around there and now down south have had the big events this time rather than us.
  15. Morning chaps! I'm heading off around 10. Looks OK but some heavier stuff moving into the Leeds area, so fingers crossed.
  16. North Easterner here! Travelling to Manchester this morning from Durham. Any of you guys with more local knowledge (and seeing what the snow is like) any sense of whether the A1 and M62 should be OK until around 12?
  17. Snowing in Leeds, apparently. Looking at it, my thoughts for my Manchester trip are: The main snow tonight has almost cleared the A66. Looks like slow traffic, but still open. Snow due to hit M62 now and later. Snow tomorrow, at least the main stuff, should be around 12 onwards around Leeds-Hull-M62. So if I head down the A1 and the A66 is open, I might as well cross the Pennines there, rather than risk travelling down into the most prone part. From there I can head down the M6 and that should be trouble free. If the A66 is closed, I'll just get to Leeds asap and hope.
  18. Rain here the whole time. Now petering out. Not that it ever really got going.
  19. At best it's snizzle/drizzle. Either the radar's not working or the sky isn't.
