  1. The snow is very wet here WOuldn't be bad if the streamer shifted on a bit so we don't have the snow washed away!
  2. looks amazing... but the radar says its getting more like rain and sleet
  3. I thought this was ours??? Looks like the bulk of it is going to the centre and W!!
  4. Is that lot due to swing down the coast? Because at the moment it looks like going SSW.
  5. I knew it was a mistake to click on that. You sadistic ***** , JP! lol
  6. As long as the snow is maintained on the Pennines I'll be satisfied - I want my sledging and snowman-building Sunday trip up there!! :-D Oh, and the kids want it too.
  7. Temp at 1.6°C here, and rising. DP -1°C I agree JP - sleet at best.
  8. Rain around Dundee, so not a great sign.
  9. Looks very marginal to me. Tow Law, Consett, etc might be OK... Us lower-level folk - I expect that heavy sleet sound on the windows.
  10. True... but we've got more snow than they'll ever have if we take a quick 30 minute drive up to the Pennines - that's where I'm taking the kids this weekend - somewhere up from Stanhope, towards Blanchland maybe. Always good.
  11. What's behind it might be more interesting, I'd guess.
  12. As I said earlier, I think the main problem may be the direction.. seems to be heading towards the Pennines rather than the coastal strip! Goodnight, Irene.
  13. Can't see it reaching us atm. Looks to be thinning and seems to be heading slightly SW for some reason.
  14. If Belmont gets half a milimetre more than me, then I'm afraid you may well be disappointed. Son of a....
  15. Hopefully exactly over Gilesgate. Come on!.. we all know this is the time for true IMBYism to rear it's evil, selfish head!
  16. Seen this? Durham Pennines could be the place to be. Big upgrade to warnings for Saturday just out. Looking very promising... Following a temporary less cold period on Friday and into Saturday morning, a very cold airmass will spread southwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland accompanied by strong winds, spreading southwards into northern England and north Wales later in the day. Frequent showers are likely to form in this airmass, and with the cold air snow is likely to accumulate, even to low levels in places. Periods of enhanced snowfall are possible within this general flow, perhaps more especially across the high ground of Scotland and northeast England, but these details are more uncertain. There is the potential for disruption throughout this period due to the accumulating snow and ice but also with temporary blizzard conditions leading to very difficult driving conditions.
  17. ... or maybe not as the cloud rolled in and temps above freezing! lol
  18. My advice would be to stay in and watch a film and don't turn on the TV or laptop tonight or tomorrow morning. Unless, that is, you enjoy hearing and seeing others bang on about what an incredible amount of snow they have while we have nothing. Just a suggestion.
  19. I'm not. We'll get bugger all of any note. :/
  20. I think you worry too much about air temps at 2m. IMO it is the least important factor: upper air temps and dewpoints count for a lot more. Air temps will rapidly fall in snow, especially if it's heavy.
  21. I'm afraid the pedant in me can bite my tongue no longer! I've seen loads of people write this, but when snow settles on the ground it LIES (or IS LYING), it doesn't LAY That is all. :-D
  22. Anyone seen the Tow Law webcam!? LOL Great stuff! http://www.durham.gov.uk/article/4530?station=12
  23. You really think so, GK? I can't see where the showers are going to come from. When will the wind change?
  24. I think the southern side of the Toon is heading for that gap tbh.
