  1. The main problem is almost no ppn is forecast for most of the region! north of Darlo, away from high ground/Pennines there is nowt... while the south gets a pasting!
  2. Looking poor for the coming week. Apart from the wind, all the snow looks like missing our region.
  3. The GFS parallel 06z is very good in FI for us - strong NE'ly.
  4. At this stage the only plus is that the Pennines might get a bit so we can go there tomorrow. Still a poor second to a snow-covered scene at home at low level, mind. Beginning to wondering when we will ever get to see that again! Looks good for Northumberland, but Newcastle to Boro, not. And that's where most of us live! LOL
  5. Snow - but not settling,wet,... and the N Sea looks like it has no more to give us. A non-event for us again.
  6. :/ A weekend not to watch any news bulletins... too much envy!!
  7. From my reading it will go diagonally between Newc and Durham.
  8. Especially Durham! We look like being directly in line with the one gap in the entire system! I've lost count of the number of times that has happened.
  9. More to the point, will they even come ashore? NMM suggests not.
  10. Like I say, is such a poor run common? Pretty naff when you live up here and your kids don't even get to see proper snow for 3 years running!
  11. We could be looking at 2 poor years on the trot.. in fact. wasn't the year before pretty bad too at low levels? Is such a poor run common for our region? Very frustrating when you see all the pics from places further south
  12. Some lovely sun up in the Pennines today, and found enough snow to spend 2 hours sledging with the kids!
  13. Just lost the second palm tree this year... that said, they were both dead - killed in the 2010 freeze - and rotting at the base, so it's hardly surprising. Only question now is what to do with the clematis that was growing up them!
  14. 35-40mph gusts here in my back garden. It's relatively sheltered and the anemometer is not nearly high enough, so you can add about 10mph to that.
  15. Hopefully not speaking too soon, but I am seeing so many more benefits to living in the NE! We are generally sheltered from the worst of the winds and rain that come from the Atlantic, being a hilly and high-ish region there are many parts that are not susceptible to serious flooding, and we get more snow than other regions of England.
  16. Never mind about tonight!... It's accumulating nicely in the Dales right now!
  17. A good covering in the higher parts of Durham City this morning (Gilesgate/Belmont). Weather cams in Weardale, Teesdale, and Tow Law look fantastic.. what hope is there that it'll all still be there by the weekend? Should be a good 6-12" on the higher Pennine ground I'd've thought by the end of the day.
  18. Another frustrating day - snow forecast for here... ends up that the Midlands gets heavy snow to low levels. Can't see many of the predicted showers for here developing atm.
  19. I'm not sure if was ever really "there" in the first place TBH. There was never proper model agreement, and, a few juicy runs mainly from the minor models aside, it never seemed to add up to anything spectacular anyway, even if "it" did come off. I think the sense of "it's all gone wrong" comes more from the way in which people focus on any chance for cold/snow and then ramp it up TBH.
  20. On the road from Stanhope to Blanchland, just past where the road bifurcates between the Blanchland and the Edmundbyers roads.
  21. I've given up on low-level snow this year. All I want now is a decent fall on the Pennines so I can take the kids up there for some fun.
