  1. Cheers mate! I took loads! It was awesome... best drifts and depth to walk on (4 feet) I think I've ever experienced. Road up and back was a bit dicey at times - a fair bit of drifting onto the road.
  2. Trip up to Harwood to see spectacular drifts - 4 to about 15 feet, walking on 4 feet of level snow... then back to Durham to plant the broad beans in the sunshine! Perfect day... perfect weather: cold and deep snow 30-60 minutes' drive away; cool but sunny and lovely at home.
  3. Spuds for me tomorrow. If you want a fine pic of the N Pennines, check this out - this is from Harwood, about a mile from the Cumbria border: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bramptonweatherphotos/8600261971/in/set-72157633115903005/
  4. I've just seen some pics from a guy I know who went to Harwood today - Teesdale about a mile from the border with Cumbria... about 200m higher than where I was, and it looks amazing. I'm planning to go there over the next few days. Where we were, my almost 6 yo daughter was up to her waist in level snow!... the drifts from the pics further up from this guy were unreal - roof of a building height! Isn't it amazing to live in a region where we can see things like this 30 mins away even when there's nowt here at home?
  5. Day in the Pennines - awesome amounts of snow... 30-50cm level in places where the wind hasn't got to it that much. Drifts of many feet. Still uploading the best ones, but meanwhile.. these were from above Stanhope on the road to Blanchland and on the road between Stanhope and Barny.
  6. Anyone who can tell me what conditions are like in Durham? Much lying? Falling currently?
  7. Not much new activity in the N sea now.. does anyone know if it's due to pep up again later or tomorrow?
  8. Well, I reckon it's looking good for Gilesgate today and tomorrow/Wed, because I'm in Oxford. :|
  9. The radar doesn't suggest that they are getting more than anyone else TBH.
  10. LOL. Maybe I'll go into another region's thread just to call them names today. I'm down in Oxford atm... the deepest snow on the way down was Birmingham to about Banbury, though none of it was Pennine/Tow Law depths. Looks like a few light showers up at home today... hoping for some decent showers to the kids are happy.
  11. LOL. Seriously, though, how can hoping it hits someone be nastier than hoping it hits someone else? Basically anyone who expresses a preference is as nasty as anyone else who expresses a preference, regardless of what that preference is. So smartie is as nasty as me.;-)
  12. Of course, one might say that hoping it hits the south and not France would be just as nasty. What's the difference smartie?
  13. In case it isn't clear it's about how it feels sometimes not about being factually accurate.
  14. i know gs . Allow me a bit of hyperbole. ;-) i know. Hyperbole. Apparently some folks like to come into other regions threads and get all sensitive like though.
  15. oh get off you're high horse. It's called schadenfreude. I'm fed up of people taking every damn post so seriously unless it's got a thousand emoticons. I'd be please for you but micturated off for me. Ok? F..f..s
  16. We've had decent falls, but nothing major, and we've missed out on all the big west to east blizzard events. How about letting us have a shot at one of them? THat said, given the tendency for these systems to correct south, it looks like it could end up in France.
  17. That's what I'm hoping for... I'm not sure I could take it if the far S did get in on the act leaving us in a minority of one.
  18. TWS - any hope that Friday's system will miraculously deliver here?
