  1. Failing that I'm bunking off work tomorrow and driving to Dipton!
  2. Not sure what the chances are of that great lump over Yorkshire making it here are... slim I'd guess.
  3. It has pepped up a bit and has left a dusting... still falling and looks very pretty... dead calm too - love that.
  4. very fine snow here in Durham... might give a dusting if it continues like this for 18 and a half hours. :-S
  5. ACtually I don't know..looks like Darlo may be in for some snizzle!
  6. I'll rephrase: we rarely do. As for a walk in Consett... that IS a very good thing about our region: it is almost always possible to find SOME decent snow within easy reach in winters, be it Consett, Tow Law, or the Pennines. Not many places in England can say that. I'm planning a Pennine trip via Tow Law with the family on Saturday... we will be taking sledges!
  7. I really don't know why anyone thought we would. We simply do not get anything of note in this sort of set up.
  8. I would be amazed if we got anything of note out of this.
  9. With all due respect, I think you are being far too optimistic with regard to the prospects of snow. It may happen, but the charts plus experience says it's highly unlikely.
  10. Don't hold your breath. Looks to me much more like the usual fragmentation and fizzling out as it reaches us.
  11. Dying out/not amounting to much as they approach Durham. This will be another non-event away from higher ground.
  12. steady snow here in Durham city centre for last 30 mins.. no sign of it settling though.
  13. Looks like being a very frustrating spell this. With Scotland and parts of the midlands, NW and Wales having seen decent snow over the last few days (and post-Christmas), and more forecast for the midlands, EA and other areas in the south this week... looks like we'll need something NE'ly in February or this will end up being a winter where we end up with the wooden spoon.
  14. Yet again it's Boro and around there that are getting it. Naff all for Durham-Newcastle. No proper snow for my kids this year it looks... terribly frustrating when it's bucketing down 30 miles away
  15. That gap to the right of the band coming into Newcastle now has my name written all over it! lol
  16. They might skirt to the W of Durham Then there is a huge gap.. are we expecting those more organised showers off Scotland to reach us? Or more to pep up?
  17. 0.8°C here in Durham. DP -2°C
  18. The ones from Scotland seem to be heading towards us.. the ones pepping up over the sea seem to me heading down the coast and not towards land.. anyone??
  19. 18z has some of the counties written off above as getting some decent snow (eg NE) on Tuesday night. Experience tells me this might be unlikely, but all the same.. what is it that leads people to think this solution is wrong?
  20. Just when it couldn't get any worse, it looks like Tues/Wed will see the whole southern half of England getting buried :-S
  21. Decent snow for an hour. Now stopped. Settled, but don't think it'll last long - looks slushy.
  22. Decent snow now.. settling away from wettest surfaces. Seems to be filling in over land too
  23. Sleet at best here - and I'm at about 300ft!
  24. Frustrating, ain't it? BTW my daughter loves Redcar ever since we went on a fossil-finding mission to the beach there. Found some great fossils
