I could understand these METO criticisms if they were coming from people who had no idea about how weather systems work and the problems of computer models in these situations... but we're on a WEATHER SITE where we have been following and seeing just how hard it is!!
Sorry but the above posts are completely baffling... I'm tempted to say they're trolling, TBH. Joke.
Nope. Meanwhile Friday looks like seeing heavy snow in Mids, E Anglia and poss SE... this would be more than frustrating.
I don't mind areas to the south getting a load, but not when we've had none!!
It's breezy out.My anemometer is poorly placed but is recording gusts in the 30-35mph bracket, which means it's a lot more than that. Nearby PWS has recorded 45mph... I've had enough of wind now, thanks.
Awful 18Z GFS - takes storm and the snow risk further south - looks like a day watching a lot of people from mids south getting pasted while we get nowt.
Yes - flurries aside there's been nothing this calendar year!
Not been great for the Pennines at all, even considering last NOv/Dec... for me it was the 09/10 which was the best I've seen the Pennines - up to a metre of the stuff - incredibly beautiful to drive through.
You might find this useful - it's a link to traffic weather sensors. SCroll to our area and enlarge - there's one in Ushaw Moor and another in Tow Law. One in Consett too - all on your side. You should get a sense of temps in Lanchester via those.

I was here 07/08 - I'm pretty sure I remember one heavy fall that year, but it turned to rain with about 4" on the ground, so you had to be quick!
So they're not common... here's hoping we don't have one this year!
Radar seems to be dying for the NE - not sure what people are seeing that I'm not. The system to the north won't come further south, surely! I can't see much being formed over the Irish Sea or over the Pennines. What am I missing?
Isn't that just typical! Friday's low downgraded so much that now it looks like heavy snow in the S and SE... the worst possible outcome!... I hate it when they get more snow than us!!
So, UKMO has it north again - eye passes over border area/NEng - so pretty bad for mids/south.
ECM 12Z has it half way between GFS adn ECM.
Lots of uncertainty.
