  1. Still the Camborne low

    Chart weatherbell

Camborne low could be a very potent early autumn storm ,something to keep us on our toes over the coming days on Net weather .will be watching the charts with an eagle eye but dont think it will be till late monday that we will see any track or depth that will give us a clue ,but certainly somewhere in our kneck of the woods will get some newsworthy weather .

great days ahead summers gone here comes autumn then winter ,not many posters about but i,m sure we will see a surge shortly , :gathering:  :drinks: .

  2. Very interesting Gfs 6z which shows a very unsettled spell from the weekend until around the middle of next week followed by a very settled and summery spell which lasts to the end of the run with power to add. When the unsettled spell arrives in a few days time it shows bands of heavy rain spreading north across the uk with strong winds at times but there is also some drier and sunny spells with temps still well up to average except under the wind and rain when it will be cool but then the jet is pushed away north with an anticyclone building in and becoming warm or very warm for the time of year.

Always great to see Frostys charts ,certainly some interesting weather on the horizon and plenty for us to get our teeth into .

Atlantic certainly kicking off but longer range at this point will be hard as many models struggle with many possibilitys especially any placing of high pressure ,so lets enjoy the next couple of days for those not working ,cheers .

  3. After looking at current charts and Data i think if we can we must get out and enjoy whats on offer over the next 4/5 days ,of course many arent able but i was lucky yesterday to enjoy a summers day in Autumn .

Next week looking very autumnal and if Gfs is now on the ball perhaps even some stormy weather knocking on our western shores ,many runs needed on this though but worth keeping an eye on ECM for a firmer possibility .

At least not boring and plenty i hope to bring more of us lurkers back in to any discussions ,cheers all  :gathering:  :drinks: .

  4.

Cheers Nouska. Yes I remember reading this when it was discussed in another thread along with, amongst others,

For sure it's a complicated and interesting subject but as to what is going on this year who knows. There are so many factors to consider not least El Nino and various other teleconnections and why the upper trough took up residence in the eastern Atlantic along with long term trends that may be attributed to global warming. All a bit above my pay grade I'm afraid.

Not only that we will be smacked in a minute for wandering off topic.

An interesting post ,and all connected to looking at the Models ,i,m sure we have many interesting days at model watching coming up , whats lurking out there interests us all but i suppose we must stick to what the Title says on the can ,so i will say todays data paints a picture of a good start to autumn [nothing nasty ] but what is lurking over the horizon what as Mother nature got in store gang , :gathering:  :drinks:

  5. I,V spent some free time today catching up with the charts  and Data and it does look at present we could see a quiet start to Autumn ,not model related but just helped my 93 yr old mother inlaw back to better health and now eating us out of home [great to see ] we will now get a daily weather forecast from her and will tell me all the info from the sun and express !and of course will let us know what sort of winter is on the way who needs models .

some very interesting weather charts across our northern hemisphere at present ,cheers gang .

  6. Hi all, new fresh shiny face to the community   :D , been reading for a long time and thought it was time to sign up.

Anyways looks okay towards the southeast corner for tomorrow night especially, but lightning as we have seen a couple of times this summer may stay over the near continent, but some surprises may be likely, also a chance of some flash flooding again as the met has also saw issuing an early warning.

Nice of you too pop in and post Welcome ,its going to be a radar watchers situation i think with any thundery potential ,even the professionals are scratching their heads ,although now are firming up on any potential ,so today sees the risk of rain and some thunder extending further north than previousely forecast .certainly a very interesting weather pattern on todays fax charts  lets hope it can give some of us the action we are looking for cheers  :drinks:

  7. not many of us weather fans about tonight ,but nice to see some input from some .

All ifs and buts for bank holiday weekend but some places will get a soaking and others fair pretty well .

looking at todays charts and all other outlook data it looks like high pressure will be on the scene come autumn ! its been a fair summer here and all my crops have done well ,also worth mentioning that storms and hurricanes if and when they form could knock many long range forecasting Models ,Meteorology is full of surprises gang ,i look forward to our increasingly approaching autumn and winter ,cheers all . :drinks:

  8. Morning all ,well looking at latest forecasts and using sattelite info it looks like more areas will see some storms later today and later tonight .

but certainly apart from the storms this certainly looks like a very potent and newsworthy 48 hrs or so coming up .

hope many of us catch one especially those that have missed out so far this year ,even the possibility of some night time action to rattle the windows and send that soot down the chimney ,take care all  :drinks:

  9. Morning fellow posters  ,i,v been lurking and enjoying our forum as of late .looking after my 93 yr old mother inlaw who is very frail ,but still gives me all the news of the Weather from her daily express and Sun newspapers ,[i do listen to her ] .well all Data and charts today paints a very interesting and possibly volotile outlook ,with i,m sure some news worthy weather coming up .

Detail of areas affected very hard to pinpoint ,but the  general ideal is one of low pressure before high pressure kicks in later in the outlook .

Bank holiday weather at this range could go many ways at 8 days start time till 10 days for our last bank hol monday , I would like to thank Gibby for the brilliant breakdown of the charts and all other posters that make this weather forum the very best , ps express just arrived so lets look at what the experts are saying ,cheers gang  :drinks:

  10. Its been a very interesting few days ,ok i didnt get my storms but it was with interest to watch this weather event unfold .

having all these tools available in this modern age is great for our hobby ,its just a case of weather watching interest etc will always be one of dissapointment but also surprises ,If many had read what the professionals were saying and not what certain media outlooks were saying [news papers ] not so many posters would have been so dissapointed ,but hay some welcome rain and there could be some fun later today [for some ] .cheers  :drinks:

  11. The NOAA output this evening does lend some indication of +ve heights to NE of UK perhaps developing into something more settled. Just where any surface high would settle IF the trend continues is not that easy to pin down. I would imagine NE of the UK and how much ridging into the UK would not be clear for a week or so? link to NOAA below

    http://www.cpc.noaa.gov/products/predictions/610day/500mb.php

Also it needs all 3 anomaly charts to show similar ideas before it is a 'done thing'. By Saturday we should know one way or the other for the following weekend or rather 2-3 days before the weekend.

Been following some north america /canada weather chat and low pressure seems like setting in around Hudson bay area so could very well see a rise of pressure to our N/east in about a weeks time ,thanks for posting the above link another good thing about our weather forum ,wish we had this 40 yrs ago , never realy boring this weather hobby ,take care all .

  12. well all prepared here on mendip for any storms .my 93 year old mother inlaw is now living with us because of bad health [lovely lady still with a sound mind but body not so good ] .she loves a good storm so hoping for the dice to fall right for these parts .

Certainly a main and probably newsworthy 48hrs of weather coming up .

Its realy great these days having the computer so we can watch the weather with radar etc .

for any newcomers to the weather hobby ,take a look at The Science of contrails [type this in on google ] by studying contrails you can relate to the upper Atmosphere ,short trails ,long trails wide trails hardly any trails ,and different shape trails all gives clues to the upper Atmosphere .

we all contribute differently to this forum so i thank those that post charts but i havent quite mastered this yet ,a great weather forum ,best of luck all with the potential now well and truly in front of us ,sit back crack open a STElla get those cameras primed ,put away the cutlery and lets hope mother nature gives us a show ,cheers , :drinks:

  13. It will be the rain that will be the most notable over the coming days rather than thunder and lightning, although there should be a decent amount of that too. Localised flooding still remains the biggest threat.

S Midlands and SC England could see over 2 inches of rain quite widely over a 24 hour period.

Just what i was going to post ,seems like some very interesting days coming up ,well mother nature as been busy over parts of europe so is this the end result ,certainly not boring .

Tomorrows charts Data eagerly awaited ,lets hope we all get something . :drinks:

  14. Looking forward to this thundery period.

Yes at last some action ,but where are all the posters tonight .Its been an action day for some today but very hit and miss ,here on mendip it was more like an autumn morning but muggy out there .

so it looks like a noteworthy weather event is looming for later this wednesday and lasting into friday but details as always still unknown ,but does look like some high rainfall totals spread about .

I,m keeping my fingers crossed for a nice cracking storm  overnight please ,flashes of lightning you can read a book by and overhead thunder to bring the soot down the chimney ,all the cutlery hidden away and television unplugged ,and put the dog under the stairs ,There certainly is the potential there gang just need the dice to fall right ,cheers  :drinks: .

  15. Well certainly a mixed bag of weather this week coming .

tomorrow s west england along with central parts seeing some thundery outbreaks .

then later this week southern counties and especially wales and west country look like good areas to be ,but then the action seems to move further east but  depending on how much cooler air is kept separared to the west depends on whether eastern counties become the more favoured areas again .

we could do with two or more pushes so that we all get a good crash bang wollop ,And night time prefered please Mother nature cheers .

  16. There is a lot of fine and warm late summer weather on the Gfs 6z but there is also some humid thundery conditions, especially through the second half of the week further south when it's set to become very warm / sultry across the south of the UK, heavy rain in the south sweeps northwards into scotland by the end of the working week. Looking further ahead, the 6z shows high pressure in the ascendancy with nice warm temps comfortably into the mid 70's F and largely fine and sunny conditions but becoming more unsettled across northern UK later.

Just about to post a similar post ,so yes warm air becoming established with usual weather i e thundery spells ,then more of our usual 2015 summery weather .

if all of us can get something a little more generally dry and warmer weather to finish our summer apart from places further north it could turn out not to bad ,cheers gang .

  17. Going by recent charts data after a warm up for some especially southern and more eastern parts it then becomes more unsettled and westerly based .spoke with my old mate in kent last night and he says summers been good there so our small island yet again providing differnt weather types .

I suppose soon people will be asking what this months Bank holiday weather will be like , if you want to know follow the sun newspaper and express as they are usually Spot on [waste of space ] great forum this whish it was around 40 years ago ,cheers all  :drinks:

  18. I think we are stuck in the 2007-2009 summer pattern of the Jet Stream in the wrong position.

I note that the United States are having a 40 degree heatwave and breaking their July records while in Rochdale it was only 7 degrees today!

Interesting post, Yes i've noticed the same thing. Very interesting patterns across the Northern Hemisphere, But what comes next ? cheers .

  19. Evening gang ,I was going to wait till tonights ecm run before posting but family ties pending so here goes .

All i can see at this moment is plenty of interesting weather ,a touch of autumn and at times even winter ,but looking further ahead to the months end its even possible to drag some very warm air over us from time to time .

We have generally had  a dry few months so i expect mother nature to make up which current charts are showing .

    g

reat that we are able to put all our knowledge together .But a thought ,long range and mid range forecasts are updated every day ,thats what makes our science so interesting ,[go too sleep wake up all change .]my interest at the moment is what will the weather be doing this wednesday ,only 4 days away ,if this low hits it could be a total washout again ,but on the grand scale of things if it slips a little further south ,a complete different story .certainly not boring charts at the moment ,cheers gang  :drinks:
