  1. That sounds awesome. Very brave and I'm sure there will be much excitement in winter if a cold spell was possibly on the way.

To me it just looks like the bbc are simply bringing to the people who follow the Weather on TV and not the internet what we already have for us weather fanatics ,on with the modells and after early next week it could go many ways ,we have some action down across north africa and some energy eventually off the east coast of America ,but certainly not a bad summer so far ,cheers gang .

  2. A nice line of thundery rain now moving slowly n east across the s west ,but although there is good potential as is mostly the case ,it looks hit and miss .as for potential friday almost anywhere could catch some intense downpours and storms but at this stage forecasting locations i feel is going to be hard .Truckers are reporting torrential downpours now in some locations in the s west ,with reports from devon of monsoon type rain near torquay and devon corn border .lets hope we can see some action overnight as many a good storm if it happens is far more interesting when dark ,window rattlers and flashes to read a paper by would be nice .pour out a STella its Game on for some ,cheers all and best of luck .

  3. Good morning all ,charts and data so far today paints a wet picture for some later this week .well its been on the cards for a while and still some uncertainty on exact locations ,well we have had a good June so probably Mother nature telling us theres two sides to the coin ,Tonights Fax from met office should give some clues to positioning of any fronts but still too early i feel for anything definate  ,just as an interest ,sat outside this morning 7AM ,bLUE SKY AND 38  CONTRAILS ,for those of you new to upper air charts take a look at Contrail Science ,as size shape duration of contrail will tell you state of upper atmosphere ,[moisture content etc] .A new science created by the human race ,STellas all round  Cheers . :drinks:

  4. Very  hard at the moment to forecast beyond 5 days ,each day seems to bring a prolonging of the dry and sunny weather .the charts a couple of days ago were going for more of a change later next week ,but it does look like the atlantic will be on the attack so possibilitys afoot for a possible showery spell but nothing yet concrete .i have been tuning in to our fantastic Net weather forum and have enjoyed all the input from posters ,all the best to all ,and as the nights now gradually pull in heres to a memorable [winter forum ]cheers from legritter . :yahoo:

  5. I think the bottom line friday into saturday will be ,somewhere will COP IT ,exact locations still to be forecasted but certainly a very interesting spell of weather on the cards .in 2012 we [wife and i ]flew back into the UK towards the end of June from Canada ,i will never forget the cloud structure as we flew across the west of the country into gatwick during early morning fantastic upper level clouds and following day Bang off it went .lets hope plenty of us see good thunder bolts vivid lightning and of course as the express says five foot holes caused by the hail and all shops selling out of CRash helmets for protection and dark glasses to protect the eyes from lightning flashes ,cheers all and crack open a STella ,

  6. Well gang ,get out the STellas ,we are in with a chance .its only early tuesday so plenty of time for charts to  firm up .A very nice meteorological mix arriving ,positioning of storms at this range of the proceedings will  always be hard to call .Just would love to see some late evening action , thunder bolts to rattle the windows and send soot down the chimney ,and a lightning display to read a paper by ,this evenings charts will be very interesting especially any Faxes Best of luck all .

  7. Well gang it looks like some interesting times could be on the cards ,potential looking at tonights charts for some lively weather later next week but charts also toying with the idea of some warm humid air but as usual at this range the distant horizon becomes blurred .so its the start of SUmmer but cast our minds back to the start of Winter ,Dec the Ist 2013 what lay ahead ,Little did we know at this stage ,thats what makes our hobby so interesting ,is there a beast lurking over the Horizon if there is please go a little gentle with us ,take care all and STellas all round Cheers .

  8. The sun came out for just 10 mins at 12.15 and some very large drops of rain started but only lasted a minute or two ,so fingers crossed one or two showers could brew up .im off to put some sausages in the pan and squeeze the last of the brown sauce out of the bottle ,im sure summer will arrive this year and with it some Spanish plumes ,time perhaps for some evening STellas watching the storms ,cheers gang . :yahoo:

  9. Would be funny if we could actually re-live 80s and 90s weather now, this forum would go into regular meltdowns over the storms experienced! The annual Spanish plumes, spectacular nighttime imports, loads of homegrown beauties...aaah, take me back lol, plus the music....heaven

Yes its fantastic to have night time storms but pause for a thought ,the same as all weather conditions you will get periods of certain weather ,wind rain thunder blizzards lows up the english channel etc etc .it then goes full circle so eventually they all come round again .Ican remember night time storms in the late 50s and early 60s ,shaking the house window rattlers ,lightning that you could read a book by ,and they all seemed to die out just as the sun rose and pop up again the following night ,wait long enough and perhaps a winter cold enough will come to be able to walk across the solent ,and although thats a bit far fetched we are enough far north ,thats the beauty of Meteorology so unpredictable ,cheers gang . :yahoo:

  10. Just had a very impressive downpour ,absolutely torrential rain but only lasted 3 minutes ,no thunder but gusty wind ,tomorrow looking good for some ,some angry looking clouds currently to my north over bristol and south wales but the sun is on its  way down so i dont expect much untill tomorrow ,a very interesting week i.v seen several forked lightning displays and some good intense downpours so a good start  to the storm season .regards meteor showers ,if its clear in you kneck of the woods keep an eye out ,although north america is favoured for any good show its not an exact science so we could easily get a good view especially towards dawn ,look towards the north but let your eyes wander around ,also last night some fairly good meteors towards east just after midnight one lasting a good 2/3 seconds like an oily rag on fire fairly high in the east moving south south west ,cheers gang .

  11. Good morning ,certainly going to be an interesting evening, night, and thursday day ,with finer details still to be agreed .But having just looked at current radar and SAT returns i personally think our incoming weather system is already a couple of hours ahead of what was forecast last night and earlier in this mornings broadcasts on BBC .Some very high rainfall totals and as regards embedded storms some places getting the bees knees no doubt .Lets hope this system does not stall or pivot too much as we all know flooding is a hell if it affects you .its going to be interesting watching todays updated forecasts and the met office will soon probably update their severe weather pages .already some storm potential showing up much further down over France  ,so chins up and lets wait and see what the weather Gods bring ,catch up with you all later ,cheers .

  12. Well i got my lightning fix last night ,several good forked ones and some torrential rain ,but all fairly short lived .it looks like some more popping up today but now all eyes to late wednesday night through into thursday ,as more of a threat moves up from our friends across the channel ,indeed many parts could see intense rain with thunder embedded ,and some imports of sorts to follow ,not bad considering its only May ,its going to be interesting as forecasters get more info in during tomorrow and of course temperatures tomorrow here and on the continent will play an important factor ,So bring it on Thunder to rattle the windows ,Lightning to read a book by and neighbours all peeping out the curtains ,cheers all . :yahoo:  :yahoo:

  13. It looks to me that next weeks weather could be headline stuff but as far as present forecasts are concerned the professionals will wait till nearer the time before committing themselves as regards thundery spells and any storms .perhaps tomorrow will see a firming up on next weeks potential from the bbc as they take the Met office guidance and even more so come Monday .its a case of keeping an eye on the Fax charts ,but im fairly confident that given some amount of day time warming we could be on a lucky streak for some ,what a brilliant day ,is this our summer ,or is this just a taster  cheers and lets get some night time rattlers and lightning to read a paper by at night . :yahoo:  :yahoo:

Interesting times on the weather front ,something to get our teeth into ,sizzling BQ Sausages tonight and the weekend then an interesting spell as humid unstable air arrives next week adding some interest to our hobby .dont forget the sun hats ,i did not bother with one yesterday ,and surely suffered for it ,youd have thought at 62 years of age nearly that i would have known better ,Enjoy the sun  i,ll catch up with you all later ,cheers . :drinks:

  15. Just thought i,d pop in and say high gang ,yes high pressure for a while ,looking at current charts .THen it looks like next week could see some interesting weather with low pressure taking control for a fair while .i expect many are thinking here we go again ,but its only mid month so easily 13 weeks of summer to come .but as we are all aware summer in the UK can be chalk or cheese ,im looking forward to tonights Fax charts and main runs ,catch up with you all after i,v watered the garden with part of last winters Deluge ,Cheers .

  16. Afternoon posters ,iv been lurking but thought i would pop into say hello .well looking at all current charts it looks to me like good growing weather and the further south east you are some pleasant weather to be had inbetween weather systems .there is a hint of higher pressure pushing in  in the far outlook but as normal at this range just a tease .lets hope we all get a good summer we certainly deserve one .cheers .

  17. No guarantee but looking like high pressure will become dominant later this week and into the following week .just a few adjustments and we could get the high eventually to our east or over us ,more runs needed but at this range its possible .so looking at all available info Dust off the barby but dont buy the steak just yet ,Today ,well felt and looked more like winter caught every shower going ,take care all .

  18. Just saw bbc news weather ,10am ,and it looks to me that their graphics will be changed later to show the area of rain moving north and n/west even further west .this is based on current rain radar .so its a case of fingers crossed for any action and fireworks ,please keep reports coming in ,especially in the east of our region .Lets hope we see a good late spring and summer full of action ,Night time window rattlers ,and flashes to read the papers by ,cheers gang .
