just saw two bright flashestowards bristol area , gone muggy occasional odd spot of rain . just put radio on and some good crackling on my old radio ,ITS BUILDING , any heavy rain east or north of bristol and anything happening in the swindon area ,cheers

looking good for many tonight , main thrust heading west but plenty of storms im sure will break out ahead of main area . 30/40 min ago here on mendip we had very very large spots ,just odd ones every now and again .i looked on radar but no echos at all , must be mighty interesting up there ,plenty of energy lets hope it can get itself organised . i think kent london east mid ,dorset hampshire could be doing very well come 10pm .lets hope it follows motorway west .the storm troops are now massing just north of dunkirk ,will they make it across the sea to our shores , im getting an early night just incase the fireworks start ,anybody had any action yet ,cheers legritter

just like to say that i once thought i was the cats whiskers when it came to weather knowledge ,and my wife proudly told her friends that i was a fellow of RM Sc , but no longer ,as i stoped my membership and they have now changed the goalpoasts a bit on qualifications . i just want to say a big thank you to the likes of COAST AND BOAR WRINKLE STORM for their contributions ,very informative . since using a computer for 3 yrs i suddenly realise there are plenty of VERY knowledgeable people out there .any how back to the discussion ,gone flat calm here and a bit more humid ,watching sat of france things seem to be developing quite nicely .PS thanks to all who post charts etc , my grey matter is getting less , TOO much smoking no dought ,cheers

could be some embedded storms in our batch of thundery rain ,we will know me thinks come 8 /10 pm this evening ,by looking at light detector . although i did see some lightning the other night me mother in law said 3am yesterday it was flashing a lot but she never heard any thunder . will be interesting to see how fast this developes today i wouldnt be surprised to see parts of s/east and coastal south parts get something by 7pm this even going by current sat pictures and returns . could have done with a boat yesterday morning going around country lanes , i also wonder whether something interesting could set up for this sunday ,BUT thats 5 days away .heres hoping for tonight cheers

torrential now for past 15 min ,but showing signs of breaking up over central parts . as the song goes ,breaking up is hard to do ,dont take your storms away from me , comeon baby lets start a new , well cant think of next line but lets hope it finishes with a BANG , and the next pulse is getting redder , and heading further north ,cheers

a line of heavy rain setting up across cen southern eng /and now moving west and intensifying ,most of the night here as been just bits ,hope this as got mendip written on it ,it could give 2 hrs of v hvy rain ,cheers

steady big raindrops here on mendip , but nothing big yet ,lightening out to the far southeast . looking at radar the worst in our area is down south somerset ,waiting for next imports ,probably after midnight .looks like it will all link up later in the night ,perhaps a large area of thundery rain will develope hampshire dorset and move n/west, probably becoming v slow moving with some early storms developing with the sun during the morning ,just had a goood flash and lights dipped must go out for a fag /back / 2 flashes towards the south and east ,rain becoming heavier gone very clammy ,regards

just spent half an hour posting to a locked forum ,oh well , and i dont even know how to save it ,anyhow my son down in dorset says you can see sheet lightning out over the channel ,its flat calm here at the moment ,something brewing iv seen that sky many times before .im not going to stayed glued to the radar tonight as it nacks you out . i will leave window open a bit and if anything kicks off big time i will here it . i hope the flashes are bright enough and thunder loud enough to make our jackdaws down chimney go elsewhere . just noticed some good action coming in to wiltshire area ,all the best gang and enjoy it IF you get it CHEERS legritter .

just finished my house chores for my mother in law bless her ,just looked at radar and sat pics ,what an adrenaline rush ,if thats how you spell it . i think i will get some sleep in early this evening then get up for about midnight ,lets hope the frogs dont pinch all of our lightning . but on a seriouse note its certainly looking like a seriouse spell of weather to come . but we have all been there before , its when those dry slots aim for your area ,just like the snow one minute a nice big blob then hey presto all gone .certainly looking lively now with some good height on those active clouds ,and some action breaking out ahead .cheers

HELP ,CUSTERED DOWNPOURS HEADING FROM FRANCE ,HARRY from kent forecasts heavy falls of custard with the odd rumble of crumble .im not taking the P... as i can remember my mistake a couple of years back , a trap around ofclusion . certainly looking very interesting for later tonight , but still a bit to early to call if a thundery affair or just heavy thundery rain .will be interesting to see whats developed by 8pm this evening over france .id say about 50/50 for some descent storms ,regards legritter

having problem with my virtual memory etc so iv just lost most of my collected data . but looking at current charts etc it does look like mon and tues could be the bees knees /as regards downpours and thunderstorm activity .and that front setting up could bring localised high totals .at the moment anywhere in england or wales could cop it ,lets hope for some spectacular lightning and the rain falling in areas that can soak it up ,as iv witnessed 125mm rain in 18hrs and its not much fun ,back in 1968 . looking like some lively storms breaking out in the channel ,dry here now but some threatening looking cloud to my south east .

gone very dark here ,temp gone up a tadge and its heavy drizzle . no wind ,flat calm im expecting some large rainfall totals this evening ,some heavy stuff now showing up in south ,,chan .tue wed now being mentioned by many media , if we get some clear slots for the sun to work on it could get very interesting .unbelievable the birds are feesting on the berries left over from our mild winter ,and heating been on all day ,oh well thats mother nature

just had a look at a local brooke /streem if it keeps on tonight with a wrap around of sorts a few propertys could be flooded . not much fun ,wheni was about 17 and can remember the great bristol somerset flood back in 68 .people being swepy away .any how a dry slot coming in for a couple of hours then some intense downpours . could be very interesting tues /wed especially now the sun is getting much stronger .any how im of to kitchen to cook a nice bit of pork with roasters IM ON A DIET .

heavy rain all morning , started to get even heavier now ,12 .30 , sky realy dark towards east .garden furniture all over place but only plastic . the fun and games will start later today as front ,slows .ban the sale of bbqs ,sun tan and sun hats next week and the following week hey presto HEAT WAVE ,

some stronger gusts of wind now ,but the next minute flat calm ,just been out for a fag and its starting to spot .some heavier bursts crossing the channell .cheers.

some nice reds getting mixed in on radar , i think there is going to be plenty of large rainfall totals , but one or two places missing out with those clear slots annoying some . what a big ,,,,,,, , if only the current set up was ,january . oh well perhaps MR AZORES as gone to sleep for 12 months . also could be interesting on tuesday ,bring it on ,regards and CHEERS

where i live in somerset ,we had a very intense downpour last night which only lasted about 2 min ,but nothing realy on radar , it must have been extremely local ,i live on edge of mendips at bottom of hill ,thought i would mention it as what happened up north /west last night and isle of man realy interested me .wonder what mother nature is winding up for us next .its certainly put mr ,azores in mothballs for now ,regards gang , we;re being attacked from the channel RADAR AT THE READY ,advance attackers now crossing southern england ,with big army behind .cheers all .

going dark out s/w and west ,a line of heavy showers expected to move n/e over parts of somerset ,a real surprise today plenty of threatening clouds but just odd spots of rain ,we put some washing out early today and its drying nicely . france sending us some fun on sun and monday ,good old euros ,ssshhhh not a bartlett in sight just hope its cousin mr azores high isnt going to hibernate for 6/7 months then haunt us for three months . hope you up north get your storms cheers legritter

a bit hit and miss in southern parts today , but plenty of time to get the sand bags out for sunday onwards .looking like next week could be very interesting for many of us .and whats good is the sun is getting higher every day .just bring on those overnight storms ,and hopefully some spanish plume ,gfs showing some large rainfall totals ,next week /cheers .

sun as just come out ,lasted about 5 mins .my wife just commented how muggy its got all of a sudden .glass in summer house gone misty ,looking at radar it could become very lively down here mid afternoon onwards ,best of luck you members who have so far been starved of storms ,regards legritter .

can see severall good cells looking to s/w of mendips , wind shifting around to more southerly . several truckers reporting torrential rain north of exeter ,but iv got a feeling it will move away east . saying that some spectacular wave type clouds mixed in with system building over somerset levels , its kicking off over blackdowns ,and radar showing a sudden build up of hvy showers in an arc heading e/ne ,anybody about in that area, sky looks magical ,going for camers cheers

looks like another good week or so coming up gang ,and perhaps later this week ,next week we could see some storms moving north from south . there is still the possibility of some localised high rainfall totals . iv noticed more and more these days that we seem to get a run of similar synoptics for a long time .which is good for us storm addics ,who have been starved for a long time .wonder what the summer time synoptcs will be , hopefully spanish plume ,spanish plume mixed with one or two cooler days each week , bring it on ,cheers legritter .

had a good 10 min shower at 11 15am ,small hail and gusty winds  .at the moment it looks like wales will NICK our lot . but hopefully something good for late afternoon .some cells now coming into west wales ,if you dont need them send them to bristol and somerset ,cheers legritter

if it was now december 20 th ,and a v cold jan was forecast ,we would likely be saying BRING IT ON . but we know in our hearts what would probably happen . reading between the lines the long range outlook models have probably picked  up on a very weak azores high , and stubborn high pressure , across north atlantic  .remember ,lack of low pressure last two yrs  over our east and south ,the balancing act will probably take place this  may ,so i think a very interesting may to come ,BUT NOT NECESSARY A VERY COLD ONE .cheers gang

i put my hands up ,only had about 10mm here up to 9am .expected 25/ 30 plus odd storm ,didnt stay up mind so dont feel knackered . perhaps something might happen late sat /sun ,but weather looks interesting for a while yet .cheers
