  1. evening all ,i havent posted in here for a while  but i do read frequently the pists .and posts . sorry but didnt have my glasses on .certainly looking like the next  two weeks will be low pressure dominated .plenty of interesting weather to come . all that arctic air trickling in our direction .its a shame we werent  two months back .looking at all the charts it gives me hope that if you wait long enough anything can happen , so please keep posting, all those regular posters who do all the research  ,i say a big  thank you ,heres to the best forum  in the northern hemisphere ,CHEERS  LEGRITTER .

  2. nice to see a mention of snow GWW,can you push it further south by about a few hun miles . the arctic is sending its leftovers at us ,its a shame its not mid feb ,another interesting week coming up . and with the sun getting stronger we could be in with some action ,iv seen severall falls of hail ,and several thundery outbreaks ,but nothing big big , cheers  legritter .

  3. THANKS SPRITES ,for replying to my post ,yes a bit early for cabbage white . i did see two darkish butterflys dancing overhead today but too far away for identification . i wish i had a pound for every ladybird i;v seen this last couple of weeks cheers :drinks:

  4. saw plenty of cabbage white today . but very yellow looking , told my neighbour its because its the first cabbage white of the season ,its spent all winter in caccoon and a chemical reaction because of time turns it yellow ,is this right or have i got it wrong ,im a weather anorax ,so any butterfly fanatic out there could you put me right .CHEERS

  5. a great thanks to the person who posted me the information regarding low DAM values in the uk during winter .i lost name of post ,but followed up on the info regarding german /british met research team ,it appears that a thickness of 480 to 490 is very possible ,and during 17th century early 1620s ,odviously not recorded ,but dams in the 470 480 range quite possible across north britain in the isle of white ,ice hell of mid 1500 s ,WILL POST OTHER RESULTS SOON , :drinks:

  6. well some good looking charts this morning ,and good DAM line well and truly over us ,but bearing in mind its forcast and not actuall yet i still think hang fire 24 hrs or so .its just a nightmare that mr azores could want to join the party ,tonights FAXES should start to give us more information , i said back in autumn i would compare past synoptic situations to give an idea of future events well as i half expected IT NEVER WORKS THAT WAY . but i found many a cold snowy spell in march delivering .thanks to those who post interesting charts data etc as my computer skills are limited ,and most of my information comes from somebody elses hard work , hope we all get some fun if it all falls into place ,GFS out soon ,fingers crossed CHEERS

  7. anything is possible gang . looking at present data ie modells plus generall weather chat across northern hemisphere things could kick of in about a week . dont write off march , if we can get record snowfalls in aprill , ok 1908 i grant you ,we could certainly get some fun in march . i like ECM later output .also GFS keeps on putting in some fun , if we can get some good upgrades soon im sure this forum will be in full winter mode in EARLY SPRING /lets just hope our friend azores goes to sleep and drifts off ,hopefully way south ,perhaps tonights GFS ,will firm up abit ,cheers legritter :drinks:

  8. anybody out there ,pretty sure something will pop up soon .can this azores high keep on strangling our kneck of the woods .GFS keeps on throwing up some candy ,just waiting for ECM to deliver ,lets hope the arctic can throw us something in march .lets hope tonights GFS can give us some hope .in all my meteorological collections ,the last couple of years have certainly thrown up some different synoptics ,but where is that GRAIL ,HIGH TO THE NORTH LOW TO THE SOUTH ,LETS HOPE THE MODELLS SHOW SOMETHING MEATY SOON . :drinks: IF YOURE FED UP WITH MODELLS pop over to winnipeg web cams ,plenty of the white stuff showing .

  9. nice to read some happy posts . GFS is running ,hope it keeps the cold theme going in later frames . im certainly banking what is being shown ,lets hope ECM STARTS TO COME ON BOARD ,ALL IN THE FUTURE THOUGH , JUST OFF TO POST A LETTER TO OUR FRIEND mr azores high , YOURE UNCLE FINLAND HIGH IS ARRIVING SOON GO AND JOIN HIM ,REGARDS LEGRITTER .

  10. as GEORDIE SNOW said ,could be a very cold end feb for states /canada , LETS HOPE IT RUNS IN OUR DIRECTION ,must keep an eye on jet streem , i know there,s a saying of 10 days later for us , but doesnt happen that way very often , but CAN ,and has and will again , plenty of deep cold in arctic ,only looking at end of GFS run ,perhaps ECM will start giving us some candy soon , certainly interesting days to come , as i said ,perhaps MR AZORES is giving his best this week before scramming off , cheers gang

  11. ok ,looking at all charts this week looking very mild ,.next week wc /27th dry /mildish ,to start . but im looking at there being a pay back in march ,or should i say a possible cold spell , GFS is hinting at high pressure in its later stages ,and reading between the lines with met of further outlook ,its seems to be covering itself with a cold spell mentioned .perhaps with azores high sinking or scramming of ,this is just a hunch ,but im sure that the recent cold spell was not the only mayor cold shot of the winter , although if it does arrive in march it will be classed by most as early spring .early march cold weather can be very interesting . especially with stronger sun and good mixing ,perhaps .perhaps this weeks high temperatures could be the last dying gasp of our friend MR AZORES cheers legritter :drinks:

  12. watched iss on computer with the plotting of its path about a year ago .it was passing over costa rica about 9pm at night ,within less than 30 mins it passed over southern britain . i went indoors made a cup of tea and it was passing down over bulgaria in minutes . back two years ago i watched ISS pass through lunar halo / lunar halos ,have been around millions and millions of years /ISS new boy on the block / kind of special ,moment .

  13. hope everyone gets something either today tomorrow or next week .wind in west now ,but still minus ,just had a look at sat pic ,this is building up for a classic ,im going out now to put out garden furniture , ready for photo shoot .iv got to beet 24cms to tie with record since iv been living winscombe for 12 yrs , could just about swing it if front SLOWS ,i like the look of next weeks charts :drinks:

  14. could be very interesting late wed /thurs ,fronts coming in from west .depends on angle of attack and how far west cold uppers get ,keep an eye on fax charts and wording on met forecasts . and dont forget those of you who are newes , you dont have to be smack on the front to get precipitation , so long as the milder air behind doesn,t get dragged to low down ,fingers crossed ITS US THIS TIME :help: cider at the ready i,v got thatchers down the road ,over the mendips in a mo ,to see mum ,law ,good buz on modell thread ,enjoy :drinks:

  15. evening gang ,steady rain with a lit sleet here aprox 90 mtrs /.asl , wind just picked up a bit , got the halogan light on outside . just need temp to drop a bit and the front to orientate more nw /se .a bit ,and we could pull in some slightly lower air . temperature wise . presipitation could last another 10hrs or so ,so with a bit of luck we could see some white stuff , there is some redder colours to our west and north ,cheers legritter :help::good:

  16. looking at all of todays output so far i think that low pressure will move s/e across the uk at about 120/144 hrs from now ,. tonights 192 hrs ecm i am HOPING will be the start of the change , its also worth using the gfs 144hrs / 192hrs for trend setting ,been on a GFS HUNT IN NORTHERN HEMISPHERE ,and its been pretty good last couple of days predicting local ised weather events .i am sure that all professional met office personal have some very good model scenarios at the moment but are sworn to secrecy ,im going to give these postage stamp things a go soon , best of luck all , :drinks:
