Everything posted by severe snowstorm

  1. Earlier cloud has now largely burnt off and mostly sunny now with temp rising steadily. Currently 25.7C, dewpoint 19C. Very sticky out.
  2. Very dark clouds just to the S and SW of here, wind has suddenly picked up a lot from nothing and spots of rain in the air. The storm (or what is left of it) is about 10 miles to my South currently. Just had a deep roll of distant thunder.
  3. The storm is decaying quite steadily. I'm not sure it's going to hold on until darkness falls, which is a shame.
  4. I was hearing very distant booms a while ago. It can't be that far away from you now?
  5. Storm is edging closer, but not hearing the distant booms anymore. Strange. It was definitely thunder, a boom evey couple of minutes or so. Maybe less powerful strikes now.
  6. I'm sure I can hear occasional very distant booms. Storm is about 25 miles away. Seems a long way to hear it, but definitely is thunder type booms.
  7. I can see a huge anvil to the ESE. I assume there is no way the storms will have the legs to make it all the way to the West before they die out, but would be nice if they could keep going until dark to provide a light show.
  8. After the early afternoon shower here, no further developments, but a fair amount of cloud cover. An unstable looking sky at times. A warm and muggy afternoon, currently 23.8C after reaching 27.1C earlier. Things seem to be going as forecast with the convergence zone just to the West of the hills. The cells look quite active in the Manchester area.
  9. 26.7C, clouds readily bubbling up and getting darker to South of here.
  10. Very sticky out today, Hazy sun with patchy cloud cover, currently 25.6C and humid with temp steadily rising. Looks like central and Eastern parts of our region will be in with more of a chance of some thundery activity today, but another interesting afternoon/evening of weather watching coming up anyway.
  11. A bright morning here, although some banks of cloud cover. Currently 21C and feeling rather muggy.
  12. We ended up with 21.4mm of rain from the deluge yesterday evening. Rained for about 4 hours, some of it torrential. The storm was an absolute belter here in the end. Best thunder since the beasts we had in 2020. Reports of a tree being struck locally in someone's garden.
  13. Yeah, definitely needed and it's freshened things a little as well, if only temporary. It's got that smell to it as well.
  14. Thought the thunder and lightning had mostly finished here, but just had a big flash and boom of thunder to my NW.
  15. Torrential rain again here and just had a couple more rumbles. Quite a temperature drop from earlier, 17.9C.
  16. Well the drought has certainly ended in style here. 10mm of rain dumped. It's still raining, but just light to moderate now.
  17. This has turned out really good here. Amazing lightning and thunder. Three huge cracks of thunder right over head in the past ten mins or so and some monsoon style rainfall.
  18. Wow, two huge flashes and more shotgun thunder. Made me jump of my chair lol!! Omg, right overhead, huge crack of thunder!
  19. Clouds moving in different directions, lightning and distant booming thunder. Wind really getting up.
