  1. GFS is holding firm so far t126 continues to see the high over Greenland getting squeezed out as the low gets forced north GFS (left) continues to go its own way at t144 when compared to ECM (right) this morning
  2. Typical cloudy all day and come 16:50 the sun gets out!
  3. My March stats can be found here It was cold and dull month other than that not much really we avoided the heavy snow falls in Darlo and rainfall was above average.
  4. ECM ensemble for London (ECM is the red line the yellow line is the average) Precipitation for London
  5. If we have to endure a period of milder wetter (April showers) type weather for a few weeks then so be it at least we'll finally get out of winters long icy grip who knows come April we could be dominated by a dry settled month at least now there are increasing signs that its just a matter of time until we see a pattern change
  6. UK Outlook for Tuesday 16 Apr 2013 to Tuesday 30 Apr 2013: There remain signs of a transition from the current colder than average conditions to more typical conditions for the time of year taking place during mid-April. This would leave the rest of the month with nearer average temperatures, albeit still with a risk of overnight frost. Meanwhile, in the absence of any strong signals for trends in precipitation later this month, the most probable scenario is for rainfall to be nearer average. Given that the first half of April is expected to be drier than average, this does imply that at least some parts of the UK are likely to be more unsettled during the second half of April. 7. Weather: Jet Stream Blamed For UK Cold Snap "Daytime highs during this first week of April will remain well below average (9C to 11C for early April) and as the easterly wind strengthens again it will feel bitterly cold. Some snow is still likely, too." However, she (Isobel Lang) said that next week temperatures will start to pick up by several degrees. "It is still a way off yet in terms of detail but the trend is there for something a little warmer with highs around the average, or even a little above. This is no April fool..." http://news.sky.com/...or-uk-cold-snap Summer Time starts with our coldest winter http://www.express.c...-coldest-winter MERCURY DIPS TO -12 AS BOOKIES PAY OUT TO WHITE EASTER PUNTERS http://www.dailystar...Easter-punters/ Mad March was the coldest for 51 YEARS after average temperatures reached just 2.5C... and this idiot motorist proves we're really not used it http://www.dailymail...l#ixzz2PDI7DsBA Idiot driver drives along with just a small gap on the window
  8. 06z ensembles continue the upward rise as one would expect for April
  9. Well it was cold and dull other than that not much really we avoided the heavy snow falls in Darlo and rainfall was above average
  10. The ECM Birmingham ensemble continues to show a steady rise towards average this morning From Thursday we see the average running from 6c to 11c by the 15th which is just below the seasonal average of 13c The low average also rises to get just above average by the 14th Thursday see's the average at -1c getting to 3c by the 10c and 5c by the 14th the average is 4c Rainfall remains below or at average to the 7th the 9th sees the peak when it gets 5mm the average is around 2.5mm before a decline back towards average on the 14th
  11. Very settled from GFS in FI Again GFS and ECM are miles apart at t240 Rest of a settled run from GFS GEFS ensemble mean also shows the end is in sight for this cold 3rd row down 2nd chart onwards shows the blues and Greens (cold) getting replaced by yellow (milder)
  12. UK Outlook for Saturday 6 Apr 2013 to Monday 15 Apr 2013: Temperatures are likely to remain below average in most places, with variable amounts of cloud. Best of any sunshine expected over southern and western UK. Meanwhile, thicker cloud with outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow over Scotland will move south over the weekend to bring occasional wintry showers in northern and eastern areas. Next week, wintry showers will largely become confined to North Sea coastal areas, while less cold but unsettled conditions are expected to arrive in the west, with dry conditions in between. The unsettled weather then looks likely to move eastwards across the UK, with a risk of some snow initially in some northern, central and eastern parts, but perhaps heavy rain in the west. Thereafter, temperatures should recover to average but with rain at times.
  13. Continued Cold and Breezy Wintry Showers in the East http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/reports?LANG=en&MENU=weekahead&DAY=20130401
  14. Well from what Joe B posted on twitter last night a warm up isn't far away now He also said in longer term next winter likely to be bad
  15. The ECM ensemble at t96 hasn't got the -8 uppers over the south like the Op had Op left ensemble right Ensemble at t192 on the left Op right The ensemble run would bring more in the way of sunshine and showers rather than persistent rain like the Op showed with the deep low
  16. Had to soil covered over for 6 weeks now and its warm recovered it over again after they went in
  17. The GFS ensemble run supports an end to this stubborn cold tonight Up-to t240 the GFS ensemble run goes a completely different way to ECM
  18. Pressure becomes lower over Greenland at t216 but the low is still over us Uppers at 0 Remains cool and wet though not as cold as it is in eastern Europe thankfully Remains wet and cool at t240 Coldest uppers getting pushed further east
  19. That low is coming to us according to ECM Cool and wet for all snow risk would be extremely low given the uppers
  20. Quite a battle by t168 with the Azores high forcing the low north wards but the northern blocking is stopping from going any further north Its gonna be interesting to see where that low ends up
  21. Looks like the Azores high could well force that low to go north by doing so it will break up the northern blocking Dry and chilly for many by Saturday but at least temperatures won't be as low as they were for most of March
  22. Cold & dry Perhaps milder later Dry and cold, but hints of becoming slightly milder for the weekend http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/reports?LANG=en&MENU=weekahead&DAY=20130331
  23. Same here got the potatoes out today went up to toolstation this morning and got a plastic sheet to cover them over until the frost risk has diminished Gonna get some shrubs and roses out tomorrow soon catching up now the weather has finally ease somewhat and given the longer days now there is more time to get the jobs done I may cut the lawn tomorrow its getting ready now
  24. A good upward trend once more from the ensembles After what we've just had April's CET can't be any colder realistically given the stronger sunshine and shorter nights onwards and upwards now
