  1. Wouldn't mind a bit of that storm action next week..
  2. A few showers around here. It's cool because you can see stars and the moon, but the Cumulus clouds are being lit up as they pass by.
  3. My cat is making use of the nights quickly drawing in: If that was a bit bigger, I'd climb in myself.
  4. 17.4mm of rain since midnight. 20mm yesterday, 6.2mm the night before. High of 13.9°C today. It seems like it got dark quickly tonight?!
  5. A wet couple of days here, dropping over 40mm. 108mm for the month.
  6. No, sorry. You are wrong. During heavy precipitation, the new spoon tipper dramatically over-reads. I did multiple tests where I had manual gauges both on the ground, as well as mechanical tippers, and at the same height as the spoon tipper. All gauges apart from the spoon tipper would be within 1mm of each other. After rain events of 15mm, the spoon tipper would read as much as 5mm more. The heavier the precipitation, the higher that over-read would become. There were several events where it was in excess of 10mm higher than all other gauges. It even gave me a rain rate of 411.4 mm/hr - it was not fit for purpose, neither were the other two that I tried. The problem lies with the spoon tipping earlier than it should do during heavy precipitation, and not tipping when the spoon is completely full. The see-saw tipper does not have this issue.
  7. The newer VP2 spoon tipper is dreadful. I had three and they all over-read, significantly. They were tested against manual gauges and other mechanical rain tippers and it was clear to see how bad it was.
  8. Certainly had some convective rainfall from this.. 9.4mm since 10:30pm
  9. For here, 2021, 2020, 2018, 2017 and 2016.
  10. Always nice to see the old-style barometers. 976.19 hPa here this morning. Lowest pressure since November 16th last year.
  11. A lovely day here. Lot's of sunshine and 17.8°C.
  12. After what was looking like an interesting period of weather here, has now turned in to a bore. High resolution models were exceptionally bad in terms of rainfall.
  13. An abrupt wind direction change just after 6pm. Pressure bottomed out at 980.12 hPa.
  14. It's certainly not what was forecast. Heavy rain was supposed to start circa 4am. There's only been a few bits & pieces of drizzle.
