Difficult to say at the moment. I was just looking at some obs against the forecasts, and it seems the winds are behind schedule at the moment. I'd probably punt for 11pm/12am. My recycling as been out since Friday, as the xmas schedule showed it to be 2 days behind. However, they never came around, and so everyone's wheelie bins are still out, with nearly everyone also putting extra bags on top of the bins. I can see exactly what'll happen with that.. I've got a huge separate bug full up of recycling because of them no emptying last week, it's a complete cock-up!

Model Moans, Ramps and Banter
Mapantz replied to Polar Maritime's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Kettle and black springs to my mind! You keep saying that you'll gladly explain in a PM regarding what you mean if somebody quotes you with question marks, but why not post your clearer explanation in the first place? It would save all of the confusion- and yes, a lot of your posts are completely bonkers! -

It has been talked about in here and other threads OM. Ian stopped posting due to people taking his information and charts (meto one's he was allowed to use) and then posting it on social media as their own. He used to get a lot of stick in the mod thread - very unnecessarily so, too. I don't blame him for it either, he took time out of his busy schedule to keep some of us informed as to the Met's thoughts, but alas, his favours were abused.

And the award for the biggest warning fail of the year goes too.... The MetOffice.. 11.2mm fell during the warning time. It looked ominous when i checked yesterday's 12Z, but the 18Z confirmed it. Accumulations for the past 12 hours: 43mph gusts and 24mph winds speeds around 2:30am though. Currently: Temp: 11.7°C - Hum: 91% - Dew: 10.2°C - Bar: 995.94hPa - Wind: SW ~ WSW @ 12mph

Winter 2017 2018 General Discussion
Mapantz replied to syed2878's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
A different story here @Hotspur61 .. I've seen no falling snow, I've had less frosts than last December, rainfall is about to go above average. There's been 15 days with double-digit maximums, only two cold days, the rest around average. I'm running above the MetO derived temperature average for this area. There's only been two saving graces for my liking, lots of stormy conditions, and sunshine above average. -
I've just had a look through the short-range charts.. a couple of troughs move in to the SW on Sunday, and creep across Southern counties. Modest CAPE levels being shown, steep lapse rates, and very cold ELT's - could be more scope for heavy showers containing hail, along with thunder & lightning on Sunday eve.
-
.. just a few frames from the NetWx model .. Obviously, the MetO have more models at their disposal, so I'd expect a couple of options.. 1: They might be awaiting more data, and add separate warnings. 2: They may have jumped the gun with the current ones. lol
