Model Moans, Ramps and Banter
Mapantz replied to Polar Maritime's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
Here we are again.. people still using the 'screenshot' function on their phones to post a tiny picture of a chart, with no dates or timestamps. Come on folks, it's just as easy, if not easier to save the image you're looking at on your phone rather than doing a screenshot. -

I don't think the Vue has a seal around the battery cover. if you take a look at this un-boxing: https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=9146.0 you'll see that the owner put some duct tape over it.

I haven't had time to do my statistics for a while, so i'll do it now while I have some.. October was quite a dull month and had 20 rain days. Most of them came from the middle of the month and making a 10 days wet streak. No frosts, but the minimum temperature I recorded was lower than last years. Temperature: High: 20.2 °C - [25th October] Low: 1.4 °C - [30th October] Lowest Max: 13.3 °C - [30th October] Highest Min: 14.7 °C - [24th October] Mean Max: - 16.6 °C Mean Min: - 9.6 °C Average: 13.2 °C MetO Derived Average: 11.8 °C Station Average: 12.2 °C Humidity: High: 99 % - [19th October] Low: 51 % - [6th October] Pressure: High: 1035.7 hPa - [27th October] Low: 996.7 hPa - [19th October] Wind: Max Gust: 46 mph - [21st October] Max Speed (10 min avg): 24 mph - [21st October] Avg Speed: 5.8 mph High Wind Run: 393 miles - [21st october] Dominant Dir: West Southwest Rainfall: Total: 66.8 mm MetO Derived Avg: 103.3 mm Station Average: 55.7 mm Max Rain Rate: 90 mm/hr - [19th October] Max Hourly Rain: 5.6 mm - [19th October] Max Daily Rain: 23.8 mm - [19th october] Solar Radiation and Sunshine Data: Max Daily High Solar: 780 Wm⁻² - [2nd October] Min Daily High Solar: 118 Wm⁻² - [24th October] Max Sunshine: 8.3 hrs - [6th October] Min Sunshine: 0 hrs - [6 days] Total Sunshine: 83 hrs MetO Derived Avg: 117.4 hrs Station Average: 93.2 hrs

I suspect it's a problem WU's end. I have lost count of the problems I have had with them, every month there's an issue, whether it's the webcams or the station data. I just leave it now, i cannot be bothered to even investigate or solve the problem. Eventually it rectifies itself until the next time. As for getting a reply from WU, you have no hope. There's one person that deals with all inquiries by email, and they have backlogs of tens of thousands of questions/complaints. It wouldn't surprise me if WU will eventually stop all data being uploaded to their site - they have been slowly removing things over the past year. IBM who now own WU don't give two pips about end users. I don't know if it includes all countries, but I do know that they sell users data in the US. You're better off making your own site to view your data rather than relying on a third party site. The other alternative is to send your data to Weathercloud, it's far more stable.

Temp got down to 2.7°C just after midnight, before it started rising again. Some sunshine this morning, generally cloudy now, but bright. Temp 14.2°C That is below the MetO average. I'm at 66.8mm. I decided to derive the MetO averages of Bournemouth and Swanage for rainfall/temps/sunshine (as I sit between them) so i could get an average of the two to pit my data against it - which works well. That MetO average is 103.3mm, so i'm well below.

6.6°C Thank you please! -
It did work very well in the end CC. Although I didn't leave the house for 7 weeks, partly because my chest was still quite bad and I also didn't want anyone else to be put through the ordeal that I had lol

I had flu on new years eve of 1999 - was absolutely gutted! I also had swine flu back in 2008 and was prescribed tamiflu. However, the first night I took it, I didn't go to sleep as I thought I was genuinely going to die. I've had a free flu jab every year since 2012. I haven't had the flu in that time, so i can't say that the jabs 100% help, but I do like to think so, especially as it's free.
