  1. Nice little temp drop now. from 10.6°C at 16:48 to 7.8°C at 16:45 - Much better than 10+
  2. The FAX charts have been showing that little development for the past 24 hours or so, but as AWD mentions, there's not a lot on offer from the UKMO to delve in to detail. Snow North of the M4 would be my bet..
  3. The immensely powerful squall line has just passed through here! Thar she goes..
  4. hi-res < 4KM only goes out to 48 hours though,so you're not going to get a great idea until late on Tuesday.
  5. Let's see ho much of a temperature drop that produces?!
  6. The wind has strengthened quite a bit now, gusting to 31mph at the moment.
  7. Waiting for deliveries, so I'm having to stay put. That usually means tomorrow and Wednesday as well lol
  8. Mornin' you can tell that rain is on its way, it has that look about it. The wind is beginning to pick up too. Temp: 9.9°C - Hum: 88% - Dew: 8°C - Bar: 1022.93hPa - Wind: WSW @ 10mph.
  9. I'd go as far to say, that it won't get as cold here, as it did at the beginning of December - minimum temps, that is.
  10. It's about time you people learnt to use the forum correctly. Firstly, how many times does it need to be said that these types of posts are not for the model thread? Secondly, if your post isn't model related, use the '+' button to save the quote, then come over to to this thread, and hit the 'Quote 1' in the bottom right had corner of your browser, this will post the quote in to the edit box. It'll probably stop your reply from being removed, and it'll make me happier when i'm looking through the model discussion replies to not see these posts that are not relevant to the topic.
  11. This will be one of my aims when my newer quad copter arrives..
  12. http://www.warehamwx.co.uk/cumulus/ewn/forecast.php Don't click 'Locate me' - It uses HTTPS and I don't have an SSL certificate on my site.. yet.
  13. Mostly cloudy today, but bright spells. Temp peaked at 11.4°C Temp: 8.8°C - Hum: 95% - Dew: 8.1°C - Bar: 1031.73hPa - Wind: Calm.
  14. This is where it gets tricky. I've had dew points of 2 to 3°C before, with a temp of around freezing, and it has been snowing. Likewise with a temp of 4 or 5°C and a dew point of below -1°C Generally though, temps of 1 - 2°C with dew points of zero and below. Another helpful one, is obtaining your wetbulb temperature. This can be calculated online using your pressure reading, temperature and relative humidity, and if you can come up with a wetbulb temperature of zero and below, you stand a good chance of snow. The wetbulb temperature is quite important, that's why it is possible to get snow with higher air temperatures and lower humidity readings.
  15. Quite a nice run of consistency out to 7 days.. There are many factors when it comes to snow falling, but once the cold gets here, and perhaps some precipitation is being modelled in a reasonable timeframe - a weather station with temp/humidity/dew point is the perfect tool for gauging the chance of it being wintry. It's not foolproof of course, but you won't go far wrong! I remember some years back, we had some torrential rainfall with rivers flowing down the streets, and then it started to become snow - the air temp was above 5°C, I remember it clear as day. As soon as the heavier precip started falling, it was was helping the isotherm level to come down, and the snow got heavier, so much so, it was creating slush with the soaking roads, but it soon covered everything white. I was amazed, because it was barely 30 minutes after torrential rain.
  16. For someone (in the mod thread) who is addicted to using selfie sticks, you'd think they'd know the difference between your and you're, wouldn't you? Rude and arrogant is an understatement!
  17. It all depends on the program you are using. Steve @ Cumulus for example, would usually add code that would conform to the UK standards of measuring certain weather types. As far as i know, pressure trends are derived over 3 hours, but the trend can be extracted for a period of an hour. For example, my trend is showing 'Falling slowly' due to a change of -0.08 hPa/hr - so it can be a very small movement up or down. As for the wind, I think it is taken over a 10 minute period, and also, that would come down to how your station sends the data. For instance, Davis' stations send a rounded number, its either 0, 1 or 2.. etc If either the gust or speed show 0mph for 10 minutes, then the 'Calm' tag is initiated.
  18. 4.2mm of rain yesterday, 0.8mm today, January total at 21.4mm. A bit of a grotty day today, mild and damp. Temp: 11.3°C - Hum: 96% - Dew: 10.7°C - Bar: 1032.34hPa - Wind: W ~ WNW @ 1mph.
  19. My cat has just been crouched down in the flower bed, watching the bottom of the shed - there's a nest of mice under it. He's absolutely soaked, but doesn't care a whisker!
  20. It has turned a bit wretched out there - heavy-ish drizzle. It looks like a few heavier bursts may be on their way?!
  21. Temp bottomed out at around 12:30am at -2.5°C Overcast and breezy today, rain incoming. Temp: 7.1°C - Hum: 77% - Dew: 3.3°C - Bar: 1035.73hPa - Wind: SSW ~ SW @ 5mph.
  22. After a small rise about 40 minutes ago, it has started falling again, -2.3°C - at least it'll be like that after midnight, meaning another air frost to my stats lol
