Oooh Christmas Love it. Its why I don’t mind the months leading up to it. January-March, however? That’s a slog
Yep, January to March are my least favourite too. End of August up until the end of December for me every time. Although I am partial to the first warmth of Spring shining through.

True night finally returned 2 nights ago to my latitude. The slow decent into the best time of the year (personal opinion) begins.
Just to add as well, tomorrow night will be my first pre 9pm sunset!

I don't see how this really relates to Autumn?
It doesn't. But, as there is no Winter thread, and it would throw this forum into meltdown if one was to create a Winter thread in July, I'd say posting it in the Autumn thread would be fine to most posters.

@Dangerous55019 Great minds think alike.
I usually start the Autumn thread around this date every year, so I had it in mind.
Still waiting for the first "this thread is too early!" post though. Usually comes like clockwork.

It may seem to some of you that Autumn has never left. But, it's that time of year again when we can start looking forward to the season of fruitful mellowness. Autumn is but 7 weeks away. And I know for those of you who look forward to the festive seasons, it cant come soon enough!
"Now's the time when children's noses
All become as red as roses
And the colour of their faces
Makes me think of orchard places
Where the juicy apples grow,
And tomatoes in a row.
And to-day the hardened sinner
Never could be late for dinner,
But will jump up to the table
Just as soon as he is able,
Ask for three times hot roast mutton--
Oh! the shocking little glutton.
Come then, find your ball and racket,
Pop into your winter jacket,
With the lovely bear-skin lining.
While the sun is brightly shining,
Let us run and play together
And just love the autumn weather."- 13

Some do get 'uppity' and thats upto to Mods to deal with but some people are genuinely intrigued and on a public forum they have the right to ask and i will stand by that fact
Let's agree to disagree then, as far as I'm concerned, personal preference should be off limits for discussion.

I think its a perfectly reasonable post/enquiry from @sarahng as a reply to a post on a public forum, it is up to the OP whether they choose to reply is it not?
The reason I ask "does it matter" is that people on here seem to get all uppity about other peoples opinions and preferences. If the OP replies, that's fair enough. But, I stand by the fact that it doesn't matter why the OP prefers the darkness, they do and that shouldn't matter to anyone else.

Could you please enlighten us as to why you like darkness? I truly don't understand.

I probably don't belong in here as I don't hate the Summer. What I don't like is excessive heat like we had last summer.
Anything in the low to mid twenties is fine in this country.
Obviously, give me the Autumn chills and Winter snows and I'll be bouncing off the walls!

Exactly. It's not as though I don't like a bit of cold (I do but I prefer front-loaded winters and especially December snow, which I was lucky enough to see this winter) but I'm no longer overly bothered by it. This week will at least be interesting after 4 or 5 weeks of nothingness but I like to see this week's weather in November - a bit of a starter before a Dec main course of cold
I don't understand why people are so offended by showing mild charts. How is that debate, balance and properly weighing up the possibilities? With all the cold charts posted newbies would think any particular cold pattern is nailed when other output is ignored (and you can't talk about the milder options/models and you can't highlight the hypocrisy of saying "GEM is a gem" one minute and then either a) ignoring it the next run when it shows milder weather or b) saying something like "it doesn't handle these situations very well"). Dare post a mild chart and you are trolling or winding people up? I mean, what the hell. No, it's not trolling, it's posting a chart from a model in the model thread
But the echo-chamber nature of that thread, encouraged and facilitated by so many, then usually leads to a load of whining and dummy-spitting when, surprise surprise, it rains instead of snows
It's a terrible thread nowadays. Not to be taken seriously anymore. There used to be some extremely good posters there in the past. A shame really.

I thought I had already created this thread a few weeks ago!
Edit: Looks like somebody renamed it for some strange reason.

Personally, I'm done with Winter. I like my snow around Christmas, and had my fill at the beginning of December. My wife's already got daffodils in the kitchen window. Just need the Spring warmth to go with them!

Didn't there used to be split model discussion for up to 5 days to focus on the more detailed (likely) outcomes in situations like this. I'd be more interested to hear what's happening in next 72 hours quite frankly in situations like this rather then a discussion on fantasy island charts for 8-10 days out that hardly ever verify
This 100% ^^^
Problem is, most on here want to be chasing FI charts most of the time, which if I'm honest, is pointless when the models don't even agree at <72hrs.

My thoughts on this current cold spell are if we're not getting any snow, then let's get the milder air back in. If I'm going to have to run my heating, then let it be for a lovely snowy couple of days at least.

It's awful isn't it? Getting absolutely sick of BOOOOOM charts in the mod thread which are always 8 days away. All that about Getting The Cold In etc is fine but pointless without the precipitation to go with it. If it isn't going to snow I'd genuinely rather have record breaking mild. If we can't get snow from these setups I think I'll stop bothering looking!
Same here, always looking for something in the wilds of FI that never comes. I used to go into the regional threads when snow was on the cards, as you used to get a more relaxed and informative description of what was to come. Alas, all the good posters have now disappeared from the regionals and they're now a ghost town mostly.
