Too far east for me but glad someone down our way is finally getting some rain. Gives us all a little bit of hope.
Edit: just as I post this, a massive rumble of thunder from my south. Oh please weather gods, give me a soaking!
Nope, it's all moving NE away from me.

Clear blue skies and still uncomfortably warm in my neck of the woods. Where's the rain?!

"Petty arguments over breakdowns and downgrades/upgrades only happen during Winter when the coldies come out of hibernation. This place is a icon of peace and love for the rest of the year."

Not feeling this warm up coming next week. Praying for rain now in my area. Autumn can't come soon enough!

29 days until Autumn is upon us. Between now and then I stand to lose 54mins at sunset. Once those pre 8pm sunsets kick in things really start to get going.
Do I sound excited? I am, I soooo am!

yeah i wouldn't of started anything now, i just wondering since there was some interest what people think
It just starts sniping from the non winter lovers. It's bad enough after starting the Autumn thread during the Summer usually. I think a Winter thread would tip some of them over the edge!

Hi all
I quite agree about the log burner. I wish we had room!
I'm not sure about a winter thread, would it be a winter lovers thread or a haters? I find winter hits a bit differently to 40c heat BUT if people would be interested in me setting up a 'winter thread' then let me know or like the post.
It's far too early for a Winter thread. Usually gets started about mid October time.

Shame it was the BBC then?
If you read the article you might rethink.

UK heatwave: Weather forecasters report unprecedented trolling
WWW.BBC.CO.UKMeteorologists from the BBC and elsewhere faced abuse as they reported on the UK's record heat. Not surprising, even some on here were questioning the Met Offices motives.

Tonight is the last post 21:00 sunset of the year for around here. Tomorrow night sunset will be 20:59.
"The nights are drawing in
And winter's coming fast;
The year has turned again.
I feel the beat of rain
The wind, an icy blast-
The nights are drawing in.
The Earth is pale, and thin:
The days of warmth have passed
The year has turned again.
The harvest, gathered in.
The die of Life is cast.
The nights are drawing in.
So poor, the shrivelled grain:
The fields are bare. At last
The year has turned again.
We gather with our kin
To celebrate the past.
The nights are drawing in-
The year has turned again."- 2

True night returned to my neck of the woods last night, all 46 glorious minutes of it!
The decent into the Autumn/Winter months begins. I can't wait!

It's so quiet in the MOD thread atm. I hope that means that there is no prospect of oppressive heat again anytime soon!

Far more comfortable today. Hopefully that'll be the last of the extreme temperatures and we can get back to a pleasant 20° to 25° Summer.

Spring 2023 thread, coming 12th January!
The coming season threads generally start half way though the current season. It's only the Spring thread, for some strange reason, that doesn't. The Autumn thread has always started around the middle of July.

I guess this thread sets a precedent for being able to start the Spring thread on 12th January?
Wow, it's taken its time, but the first "isn't this thread too early" award this year goes to B87!
Congratulations on your large tub of salt

Still no signs of a Combine doing its business where I am. Anyone got any harvesting going on?
Rapeseed around my way.

While I'm struggling with this heat (and the worst is still to come!) I'll just dream of scenes like this to keep me sane:
Oh Autumn, see you soon.
