  1. I'm following laminate floori on twitter so hoping he'll post a forecast soon. I would trust laminate floori over Madden, so hoping he's on the ball this year. I do think the vortex is going to land over Siberia this year, and if we get on the western side of it, we could have a tremendous winter.
  2. The vertical ascent of that red line has now gone for a shallower parabolic trajectory. I'm guessing that all the loose ice has now formed up into the main pack.
  3. Isnt the 12Z the most unreliable though? I'll be checking the 06Z tomorrow anyway.

After 3 days ( 2 of them to clear the road after the storm), the mountain was open for buisness again.

  8. I never put trust in FI snow chats. Many a time last year I would be on for snow only for it to bugger off by within a few runs. Much the same as last years model outputs lol.
  9. Some of that blob has survived, and by comparison to the UK, it's still a decent size. The gains around the North East of Siberia are starting to accumulate now, as is the north of Canada & Alaska.
  10. Looking at the NH chart above, it does seem that the main vortex is plumped over northern Siberia and Scandinavia meaning we catch the western edge of it, with the Jet going south for a tropical holiday.. Not a bad place to be if it was Mid December. Will need to keep an eye on the outputs to see if we can get a trend on this feature.
  11. Indeed, good for the mountain snow though, As well as some decent cold frosty nights.
  12. GFS has been hinting at blocking or HP out in FI on some of its runs. Perhaps not as prolonged as a solid winter blocking, but definitely something to keep an eye out for. Check out the 850 colours! I do get the feeling that the GFS is picking up on something very wintry this year.
  13. The Xmas markets coming to town for me, is when it starts to feel like winter and Christmas are on the way properly.
  14. Indeed, it is. And there are some good noticeable gains around Siberia and Canada.
  15. GFS FI on the 12z going for some Scandi blocking. A feature to keep and eye out for in further runs.
  16. Latest IMS chart in the Snow and Ice thread showing a lovely splurge of white stuff on the east of Europe over the past 24 hours.
  17. Some more gains in snow and ice. Another impressive blob of snow on the eastern side of Europe
  18. Ah I remember those days with fondness, Experiencing temps of -20 was most likely a once in a life time experience, or twice in the case of those back to back winters. Here's hoping for a third time.!
  19. Yes, I too had to de-ice the motor this morning. Weather app says another night of 1 - 3 deg tops.
  20. POW! Snow is falling! All around me.. Nah just joking lol. I have definitely notice a trend in the charts favoring HP and ridging out in the Atlantic. I would to see Atlantic/Greenland blocking from November, then a Scandi blocking from December through to January. That would do nicely.
  21. A good amount of fresh stuff on the latest map compared with the previous days. A line of white powder down the Rockies too I see.
  22. Of course, clothing is what makes all the difference. But still, wearing the most hi-tech stuff there is, you will still feel the effects of the Antarctic extremes.
  23. Glencoe has held onto most of the the snow it got on the summit last night.
