  1. If I was a betting man (Which I have been known to do), I would stake a fiver on Bastadi.
  2. Very possibly all that extra heat stored in the water up north having an effect in the upper atmosphere as some have said. If we do get a SSW event, I would say the record Ice melt has had a hand in it. And as mentioned above, the GFS is proging a very messy vortex out in FI. Will have to keep checking the charts as we get closer to November to see if the models continue this trend or if the Vortex starts to tank the red bull.
  3. Joe B is the biggest Anit-AGW man I am aware off. Just follow his twitter feed. Personally, I think it's nothing more than natural global warming, part of a long natural cycle. Back on topic though, the models have been picking up on some interesting signals over the last while. The coming winter could bear much fruit I believe.
  4. Cold and Wet... I dont care what the weather man says lol.
  5. The 06Z run was showing a lovely northerly flow at the end of it's run today with HP over Greenland/N.Atlantic . Probably around 5 - 8 Deg? Depends on location and weather.
  6. Joe B posted a tweet a few days ago which referenced http://iceagenow.info He was banging on about the UK being in for a heck of a winter in the tweet so it probably does present Joe B as a bit of a winter ramper.

  8. The GFS model is definitely picking up on a blocking pattern in FI. A trend to keep an eye on as we move into next week. Could we be in for a cold north easterly floe as we finish Ocotober?
  9. That seems logical. The further south cold air is, the better the prospects for the winter I believe.
  10. From that picture, I would hazard a guess and say that it is colder around the pole now than it was in 2007. Thats going by those pictures though.
  11. It will happen! Be positive folks. Epic winter around the corner!
  12. The little peak in solar output is very possibly the same sunspots rotating around to the side of the Satellite viewing them. Sunspot levels have been pretty constant for a few months now and as mention a few pages back, we closer to a solar minimum than a solar maximum despite being in a max phase. Current State of the sun There are a few sunspots coming round which may produce a few more Eath directed CME's and further chances to view Auroras, but, they could very well be the same spots that have done a full rotation. http://www.spaceweather.com
  13. Another good gain in Extent today on the IMS images. Hopefully another 100k+ increase.
  14. Yesterdays and today's. Again, if you view them in separate tabs, it's easier to see the difference. As metioned above, HUGE increase in Ice extent. Siberian snow gaining again.
  15. Honestly, predicting this winter is hard enough without trying to predict the onset of the next ice age or mini ice age. (Which take years to develop).
  16. At Tiksi, near the Lena delta, on the shores of the Laptev Sea in the Arctic ocean, There were three flakes of snow and a load of commotion, For the God of Ice and Snow, blew through the town, causing a snoplosion, and such emotion as seldom was seen, since that great winter of 1963. Frozen lakes, slated skies, trees weighed down whilst crystals blow in motion, Snow. As deep as a ravine. Pile upon pile, piled upon that slumping, fateful tree. Edit. 400 posts!
  17. I like the crystals in motion line. Will try and work the new version into it.
