  1. Can hear thunder from here now coming from the cells in the Irish Sea. Very deep sounding thunder. Quite scary!
  2. Stood in the bedroom window watching distant lightning from it. Can just about hear thunder now.
  3. Just home now from chasing that incredible storm (didn’t have to go far!) Lightning every 1-2 seconds at its strongest point. Will share a photo tomorrow that I took looking across the bay.
  4. I’ve seen some good cloudscapes before but this is by far the best. Ready to go boom.
  5. Out in the open now to see what’s going on. Looking full of potential at the moment. Some signs of rotation within the updrafts too.
  6. First bits of mid-level cloud showing up recently around West Dorset area now. One to watch for sure.
  7. One more for good measure. Deeper convection now to the west.
  8. Somewhere is going to get a storm tonight. If not these parts, north of here should get something. Things destabilising quickly now. These photos taken over the last 15 minutes:
  9. More AcCas popping up here now with some towers in the distance. Not sure if they’re visible in the middle photo.
  10. Great day here. 21 degrees and a few ribbons of AcCas at 2,500ft.
  11. What’s with the seemingly constant competition as to who can call any convective event a ‘bust’ the soonest? Gets quite tiring to be honest. With the majority of instability being non-surface-based, there is no reason to start calling today a ‘bust’ anytime soon. Storms can still initiate all through this evening and overnight so there is really no need for the constant comments about this being a non-event etc...
  12. Fast development. Looks to be forming along a convergence line so expect more.
  13. Precipitation was actually fairly heavy as it passed over. Didn’t take long to give things a good soaking.
  14. NMM modelling 100-300j/kg surface-based whereas GFS having none of it.
  15. I saw and heard that from here. Seen three stunning CGs into the sea here in the last hour and very deep thunder from them. Can see lots of virga to the northeast of here now with the orange sunrise sky peaking through.
  16. Like the look of the secondary low over Iberia. Could prolong the driving of the southerly airflow, although that is well into the depths of FI!
  17. GFS 18Z once again turning into the stormchaser’s dream. Hopefully these are all signs it’s onto something longer term and not constantly standing as an outlier like it is currently!
  18. Looks like we’re still on for something good around these parts. Keeping a close eye on the charts but certainly promising at this range.
