18z HIRLAM looks to have corrected westwards again, still somewhat better for the home counties than the WRF but a downgrade in terms of snow potential for sure.
18z HIRLAM hasn't updated yet on Meteciel. Can you post a link, please?

Anyone noticed this?
Roll back and forward through the radar grabs on NW...check out the on switch for the snow machine just north of Herne Bay
What in the actual is that?.....it's just rotating like a cog and feeding the showers.
Valid explanation I'm sure, such as dodgy radar etc, but it struck me.Silly Southender; that's the "Snow Machine Of The North Sea!"
But seriously, I have no idea either. Perhaps an error on the radar?
P.S. Salutations from North of the River.

Yes. While 2010 may have had more accumulated snow, this is just jaw dropping in terms of cold(-1 c here all day). We'd struggle to get this in the depths of winter in most winters during a cold spell, so it's just amazing to think it 's the end of February.
Yeah. Dec 2010 will always hold a special place in my heart, by this cold spell just feels colder, even if it does all end on Sunday.

What an amazing day today, cant remember a day like it absolutley freezing with snow shower after snow shower leaving 4-6 inches!
I'm with you mate!
This is probably my favourite snow day I have experienced thus far, including the infamous 18th December 2010 day which bought 10inches to my area. I have never felt it so biting cold!
The difference with this day (For my area) is that the cold and snow is just kept on going and going!

Very cold here with moderate/heavy snow.
Temp at 0c and dropping!
Seems as the snow machine is truly on in the North Sea!

Am I the only one who'd rather Thursday's & Friday's snow events don't happen? After all, why look forward to the demise of what's been a quite productive spell of easterlies?
Personally, no, seeing how we are potentially looking at a huge amount of snow from that system.
And if its the end, I'd rather it go out with a BANG!

Little yellow blob from the North Sea now pelting it down outside my house!
Windchill -8c Temp 0c

See me and Chris both think alike.
IMO, anything could happen and it just takes the low pressure to come up a little eastwards and our region is in business.
These sorts of set-ups are unpredictable and surprises can crop up out of the blue.
We'll just have to wait and see...

bank that, hope that is right
Haha, you and me both.
As a rule of thumb, I always take the Mett Office warnings as a "guide" as in any area near the edge of the warning zone could easily be in the firing line.
Just look at today's snowfall in the capital that was mostly out of the Amber zone that covered the South-East got, yet London received....
I still got a feeling most of us are gonna get a pasting Thurs/Fri.....
Fingers Crossed!!!

Just popped into the South West thread and it seems the Hirlam has everything for tomorrow shifted a bit further east.
They're not wrong...
Southern parts of East Angelia and most of London are in for a dumping, potentially that is.
The Mett Office does have London/Home Counties and parts of East Angelia under a Yellow warning for tomorrow and Friday aswell

Hello all!
OK. I'm real sorry but I'm about to RAMP hard!
The "Beast from the East" has truly and fully awakened in Central London!
2nd February 2009, 18th December 2010, 25th January 2013 and now adding 28th February 2018 to the list of best snowfall days Central London has gotten (In my lifetime!)
Went out and enjoyed the snowfall in Regents Park, snow as the eye could see with blue sky and the sun shining down....
The pond froze over....for Central London, that is mightly impressive!!!!
And then....snowmageddon occurred giving heavy snowfall, a -15c windchill with snow blowing right into my face!!! Blizzard, whiteout conditions!
It was EPIC!!!!!!!
Best snow day I have ever experienced!!!

There's some coming through fairly soon which might just clip you, other than that it looks fairly quiet from where you are southwards today as the winds change and there seems to be less instability - I'd keep an eye on tomorrow and Friday for anything significant.
On another note - bitterly cold start at -5.3c at the moment but actually fine without the wind, a light dusting over night but still not as good as the snow we got earlier during the winter.
I think your right. London hot a good pasting during December 2017, but that snow was sourced from the Atlantic (Frontal Snow) Whereas the snow we got now is more powdery snow off from the North Sea. I think Thurs/Fri will give us that wet snow in bigger accumulations.

Seems I missed all the action on the forums while I was at work today
But I didn't miss the blizzard London got though!! Completely covered the streets in 10minutues 9And for Central London, that is impressive! )
Anyway, lots of surprise falls still to come for our region, so all is still to play for!
Bitterly cold out at -3c with snow still in places around my area!
Still enjoying this cold snap until it ends!

Absolutely heavy/moderate snow falling in Central London in a bitter easterly wind with bigger flakes!

Met office don’t seem to be going with the snow around the Thames and london tonight
but wow looks great for those further east
Actually, the Met Office has a large amount of the South East AND London under an Amber and Yellow warning tonight......
These warnings are just a rough estimate and surprises can crop up out of nowhere to.
The forecast had nothing falling for Central London today, yet I've had on and off snow showers since morning.
Keep the faith!

I live in Central London so I'm like right bang in the middle of both this thread and the EA and North London one!
I already posted this in the other thread but thought to post it here too...
Hello to all North of the River!
Been snowing on and off since around 9.00a.m. here in Central London!
Light powdery snow, alternating between light and moderate falls. Snowflakes small and hardly settling, though nice to see all the same.
Temp around 2c and windchill is bitter at min -10c!

For those who want to look at the 18z HIRLAM.....
http://wxcharts.eu/
Click on "HIRLAM" on the left side of the page.
It's showing this for 10am tomorrow...
Also, this model got the position of the low coming off the Atlantic where London recieved3inches of snow on December 10th 2017.
Other models had the low further North than what the HIRLAM was predicting.
