  1. Fair enough, I guess it's whatever each individual feels comfortable with. It was useless last winter from memory.
  2. It's not annoying, I think putting into perspective is more apt. You don't see the Met office or news saying get to the shops and stock up on food do you? If it hits as modeled it will cause damage, no question about it, but it is in and out in 12 hours.
  3. Probably agree people are being over cautious here, If it was a blizzard in mid winter, fair enough. but it doesn't take long to free the roads of trees etc. I think the key is not to take any unnecessary risks, or if you do, make sure it doesn't endanger someone else, like the coastguard or mountain rescue for example. I'm pretty certain none of them want to be out there in these conditions and they are properly trained pro's. I think stocking food is extreme, candles yes, pan of water yes, maybe a camping stove if you have one and a good dose of common sense
  4. I love extreme weather, however, I don't really want to have Tornadoes spawning, especially if it is occurring during the night thanks.
  5. most of my friends have trampolines, I'm not sure but I could bounce it past them if you like...................? I'll get my coat....
  6. From what I understand from the Met point of view, track is fairly nailed on, but it's timing that is their biggest headache right now, ie will it hit when everyone's in bed or when the most populated areas of the uk will be on the way to work.
  7. @fergieweather: W COUNTRY: Morning all. Latest UKMO analysis still v similar for Sun-Mon. Strongest winds still expected Lyme Bay/Dorset/S Som (70-80+mph)..
  8. Ian F of the met office doesn't seem to put that point across this morning?@fergieweather: W COUNTRY: Morning all. Latest UKMO analysis still v similar for Sun-Mon. Strongest winds still expected Lyme Bay/Dorset/S Som (70-80+mph)..
  9. Yes indeed, I'm happy with my location for a change! Bring it on!
  10. Yes, I'm packing all away that I can, I know my fence will fall over as I constructed it. Top tip, if you have a glass table, turn it upside down, putting it against a wall is not the answer, updraft will pick it up and fling it across your garden.
  11. The only plus of it being during the day is that I will get sleep and not have to venture out in the dark to storm chase, I can set my alarm for 4am and head out!
  12. logic to me would say yes, however I'm no expert and totally rely on the more experienced members of this wonderful forum community. I merely say what I see. however I predict 7 foot snow drifts in January for you Mulls
  13. probably because anyone interested is in here and glued to the models
  14. it does seem to be getting pushed back by several hours and not pushing through quite as quickly. so impact would be worse for obvious reasons, and rainfall would surely be higher?
  15. errrmmmm.......don't?or be prepared to lose your tent at least This is the real deal, a tent is not the place to be in these conditions, although better than a sailing boat.......
  16. deepening quickly 36 on the GFS 18z 5mb deeper than the 12z at 60 and exiting at 66 is it just me or are we now talking monday morning rather than the small hours of monday?
  17. like attempting to sail to Isle of Scilly, couldn't agree more
  18. invaluable information, thanks for your input Ian. especially for folk in my neck of the woods.
  19. Please don't, putting your own life at risk is one thing, putting other peoples life's at risk though your own stupidity is another, which is what will happen when you send a distress call to the coastguard. Ferry crossings cancelled already, i think attempting to make that trip would be moronic!
  20. well you could argue that, but personally from a purely weather enthusiast perspective, = fantastic
