  1. All in all, not a bad day and more of the same tomorrow, except others may get a decent shot. Just an example of how thunder sounds from a positive CG strike, this video is a great example which I found! The last bit especially!
  2. Me too. I wish I'd chased it. But it wasn't forecast to be organised stuff today, you know, one of those storm lottery days. The wash has hit the full 6 and the bonus this evening! Heard all the rumbles and saw a posi strike nevertheless
  3. Basically the outflow boundary of a storm, more common with a powerful one, develops a gust front, which can often look like a shelf as what the photo shows.
  4. Wish I had chased it, but knowing my luck if I do now, it'll have dissipated :(!! Kicking myself for not heading towards Kings Lynn way! Developing quite a shelf on its back edge though :o
  5. Been hearing it from here over the last half hour! Seems to be back building. Think this will be on the news, the rain rates in there are close to dangerous.
  6. I'm hearing a constant low grumble here, can only assume it's that intense recent band that's fired up! It looks brutal mate! Omggg just had a bolt out of the blue!! Positive CG!! Very loud deep bang followed 15 seconds after!
  7. Get your sandbags ready. Have you seen the rainfall rate on this new band that's sprouted up!!!?
  8. One of them days where there's loads of cells, one of them is producing some impressive thunder, but you can't work out which cell is the culprit!! Edit: check that cell over north Norfolk 250mm/hr+!!!
  9. Very heavy shower with a few rumbles! Doing well so far! I expect things to continue too with a higher bout of instability forecast over east Anglia into the evening. Up to 1000-1200j/kg cape with -4 LI for 18:00 Lincolnshire has got the best storm yet again though. Shock!
  10. Yep! Glorious sun here. Can see the vapour rising too from the heating of the last heavy shower, which is now giving nice distant booms over Lincolnshire. Gonna go bang again shortly I reckon as I can see rapidly rising cumulus in the distance.
  11. Be on the watch out for funnel clouds today folks, as winds are all over the place.
  12. Looking like a decent start! Sun is out and I'm already eyeing up a rapidly developing tower
  13. Yeah they were. I'll always remember that day as we had a tornado here too. Anyone storm starved should go onto the Milan skyline cam. Some awesome lightning going on there atm!!
  14. 28th July 2005. Never forget! Anyway. I love this setup at this time of the year. Slack low right on top of us with sun at full strength. Tomorrow looks decent once again as well as Thursday for a more wider part now
  15. Hello again Steph! I think most storms have a W-E motion with some going SW-NE
  16. Very angry skies in Peterborough right now and some vicious deep booms in the distance somewhere!
  17. In my eyes, if you aren't willing to chase, then it would be silly to moan if your area sees nothing. Yesterday I chased over 50-60 miles and back. Had I have stayed at mine though, I'd have seen not a single thing. Was worth every drop of fuel for what I witnessed!
  18. Drove right by Camboune yesterday, and drove right into that monster! Really was spitting out some of the best daytime lightning I've seen in a long time.
  19. old Peterborough cell is giving it another go over Norfolk! Could make out a distant flash or two until it got misty! Been a corker of a day for quite a few! More potential tomorrow and this week too. I'm a happy bunny at the moment!!
  20. What a truly incredible day. The structure on these storms really are sublime too. Closer to home under rapidly rising low level scud now (1st picture) some photos of that cracking storm now pounding Essex! Boy I'm glad I chased today!
