    Of course it can happen, but so can a 1962/63 winter. That would be difficult to be honest, maybe he thinks the polar vortex will die?

    Wouldn't be surprised if this hurricane gets a wind speed of 100mph in exposed areas on the south coast, very worrying indeed.

    In December 2012 everyone thought we would get a beasterly, with most the models predicting it 5 days out. We were all wrong when the pattern changed. Yet for some reason people think they can predict what the Winter will be like more than a month out! We don't even know with any confidence what will happen in 5 days time!

    What do you think will will be the coldest temperature recorded this Winter, and where? I'm going to go for -12.3 in Braemar, Scotland.

    The CFS has been trending towards a below average November, the GFS has shown in some of its recent outputs that it will get colder for November. Most importantly, the ECM has shown colder air arriving by the time we get to November, which could even turn rain to snow over the hills. So it's definitely not doom and gloom if you want cold weather.
