  1. I think that it Stonehaven rather than Aberdeen (therefore less light pollution). Nice shot though, especially given the lack of darkness at this time of the year and the extensive cloud cover.
  2. LOL, at more or less the time you posted that I said to my wife, "if the sky was a book it would be Fifty Shades of Grey"
  3. Thunder free here too and a touch on the soggy side as Richard says. If I can't get out for a walk with the family I would like the skies to clear a bit between showers (if there is a "between" LOL) so that I can get a few photos.
  4. I took quite a few photos of the eclipse through the cloud yesterday but this one felt especially Aberdonian thanks to the seagull.
  5. Looks nasty/lovely (delete as appropriate) on the M9 at Bannockburn currently http://trafficscotland.org/livetrafficcameras/view/?cam=173
  6. Saves deciding my car I suppose! I think that any intensity to the precipitation may turn it to snow in a while...or possibly not.
  7. The same applies to Aberdeen although to be fair there is a greater risk of snow today and the next few days. The warnings for the city until this point have been unnecessary. It is not difficult to exclude the city in the warning areas if appropriate.
  8. I could almost bet it would bring rain too. If it is any consolation the colder air due/forecast for tomorrow during the day. By that time it should be cold enough for snow. Before then, possibly the wrong side of marginal. If it is not snowing by tomorrow evening I will seriously ticked off.
  9. The snow avoided here perfectly on Wednesday and Thursday but predictably the rain did not. Even the cold northerly is now being modelled as rain here. Not impressed.
  10. Are you sure the traffic gridlock wasn't there anyway? If it is any consolation tonight's rain is right on target and is showing its hand way up north now.
  11. None here for a while either. About two years to be precise.
  12. I must say the radar way out to the NW (north and west of Eilean Siar) looks loaded with promise. I don't think any of it will reach here but somewhere could get a pasting...hopefully!
  13. I hadn't noticed it so thanks for the heads up. As there is not likely to be any snow here before then the warning is what is keeping my hopes up for seeing some of the white stuff.
  14. Yes it should snow as I am away for a couple of days! I am cautiously optimistic about Saturday to Tuesday up here but before then I expect it to be largely bright and breezy with maybe some rain on Friday.
  15. The triangles on the line indicate a cold front, the semicircles indicate a warm front. The plus symbols on the line indicate a developing weather front. And yes the semicircles and triangles indicate an occluded front.Looking at the charts it looks good later on tomorrow into Thursday for the west and northwest but generally more sheltered here...yet again. Beyond then it looks milder but still cool with hill snow until into the weekend where some form of cold northerly looks probable.
  16. I may be wrong but I believe the obs from that station are automatic and therefore any precipitation is reported as "rain".
  17. It is snowing here lightly at the moment. It certainly appears to be cold enough if the webcam by the beach is anything to go by http://aberdeencity.gov.uk/xwc_Webcam.asp?cam=beachNice to sea snow at sea level from a slack flow off the North Sea.
  18. It could well hit here judging by the radar and there seem to be a few other showers on a similar trajectory. It will be interesting to see what, if anything transpires,
  19. I wonder what that precipitation out to the east is falling as, and I wonder where it is going.
  20. I'm wondering if we are about to lose the stream shortly or if the band out to sea will clip the coastal strip. Even if we miss it places further south may get hit.
  21. Still snowing here in the city. It will be interesting to see if the covering we now have will survive until the morning and make it the first day of snow cover for 2 years or so.
  22. Some strange looking white rain here too. Not that much of it but it seems like it will stick to the ground if more falls.
  23. Here seems to be a bit more precipitation heading this way now. Hopefully with the sun having set and a bit more intense precipitation things may get a little whiter rather than wetter. I can live in hope!
  24. Yes, we could end up with quite a lot of rain here. Could be good for the Lecht and other inland hilly areas though!
  25. Some recent rain here. There might even be a bit more later.
