You mustn’t be too far away from some form of precipitation http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/local/webcams/cairnomount/
Here in Aberdeen city things are similiar to the picture in the Ferry. Rain.
Yes, over here in the NE very few if any showers will make it through. Further west and south is a different story though and I look forward to lots of photos!
I wonder if the ECM model is overdoing the cold at the weekend in parts of the Highlands, for example:

Typically after I posted that, the winds seem to have switched to a more westerly direction keeping the precipitation out to the north! I should really learn.
There are some interesting blobs in the radar way off to the NNW. I'm wondering if they will hit this region in the next few hours. Either way it's nice to see a light covering if snow on the ground (that won't be washed away overnight!)
That's just a the edge of the range of the radar and there will (should?) be a load more to the north out of radar range.
The radar image may give more of a clue http://en.sat24.com/en/eu
Looking at the radar I wonder if that is the first sign of the more organised precipitation (rain/snow?) just to the north of the mainland currently?

I do worry that the feature tonight may bring rain for quite a few areas it hits rather than snow. If it stays as snow then some areas will likely have an overnight blizzard.
Yes it looked like the Aboyne to Ballater region was in the firing line yesterday (and may be again today). There are already plenty of signs of convection around here (in Aberdeen) this morning.
Edit: Just had a light shower here (11:55am) but there are a few more ominous looking clouds around now.
