  1. Thinking about changing from rain to snow here in Brechin at the moment.
  2. There's a light covering of snow on all surfaces here in this part of Aberdeen this morning.
  3. The milder air will take a couple of hours or so to pass I think. Then it may be colder but with less precipitation (which should be more wintry).
  4. After an earlier period of snow the mild sector has arrived and it is now raining here.
  5. Surprisingly it is a similar situation here in the city currently.
  6. Perhaps, but it is also pretty realistic, although I am not 100% convince about lying snow at low levels in coastal parts up here in NE Scotland - it could go either way.
  7. I'd rather not but the location is Aberdeen. I guess putting it in my post may have helped!P.S. There is a bit of a hint in my signature!
  8. Yes, this is factually correct. Anything else was from one or two "rogue" operational charts. Having said that the northerly on Friday/Saturday looks rather wintry up here with a decent chance of a good covering of snow even to low levels.
  9. I think the fact that the area with the most intense winds was relatively narrow has been a blessing but I would wait until it has cleared the region completely before drawing many conclusions about its impact, especially re. flooding (and interaction with Colima's ash?) Either way it has been a fascinating situation meteorologically.
  10. It feels chilly here today and I was awoken by some rather heavy rain earlier this morning that added a further 7.5mm of rain to this month's total.
  11. Yes, it has been thoroughly rubbish so far today in Aberdeen too. With a bit of luck things should be improving quite soon.
  12. Never fear it will hopefully put in another appearance this month (and hopefully, for the kids' sake, before the end of the summer holidays!)
  13. Shhh you'll scare them away Yes, it is a lovely start to the day here too.
  14. Nice photos Cheggers, is that Lake Balaton?
  15. Yes, I have been thinking about that a lot recently as I have browsed the weather conditions across the globe. I think the word "mediocre" would describe outer "summer" quite well.
  16. Indeed. Scotland seems to have been consistently in the blue on the GFS anomaly charts all summer. http://wxmaps.org/pix/temp4.html I can't imagine that changing any time soon unfortunately.
  17. Ones like this probably http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn16818.gif That is the cumulative rainfall total over the next 7 days based on the 06z GFS operational run. Regional variations will give you markedly differing regional perceptions and responses to charts such as this one!
  18. Altnaharra had an overnight low of 1°C with a ground minimum of -1°C.
  19. Over half an inch in the last 45mins here and about 4mm in the last 5 minutes alone.
  20. Yes a few flashes and bangs and a lot of heavy rain here currently
  21. We have just had a rather nice storm pass through here, with frequent lightning, heavy rain and strong winds.
  22. I'm watching that storm/cell currently out to sea. I think it may well stay there but you never know.
  23. And here - if it stays for much longer my snow will start to melt
