  1. Lots of snow tomorrow night Very cold tonight -4.1c at 5.45pm!!
  2. I'm sitting smugly on the fence here in central southern England. Hope its not a case of counting my chickens
  3. -2.3c, clear, still evening here. If all you coastal types keep the cloud to yourself tonight we should get some low temps. Looking forward to Fri in anticipation and urgently restocking on coal and logs tomorrow!
  4. The low coming in from the SW is further north (again)on this run giving a potential for some snow in the far SW of England.
  5. Is first footing not a bit sexist? Am I unlikely to find a beautiful tall raven haired scots girl at my door tonight?
  6. Yes please - us snow starved southern softies would like to see some scottish snow....please. I suppose it'll be pretty cold tonight for those of you heading out with lumps of coal ....or whatever that quaint custom of yours is
  7. Sanity !!! Let's just worry about the cold and forget about the dryish precipitation outlook. The models will change/ not pickup troughs etc. By the way .... will it snow in...
  8. Cheer up .. you'll have snow before Feb! I know the current setup is frustrating with this cold wet low just sitting around -- but it is about to be pushed off to the south west. Come tomorrow evening you'll have much colder weather albeit mainly dry. The development you need to watch is the low coming in from the Atlantic on Sunday/Mon ... tracking along the French channel coast would be ideal if you fancy a South easterly blizzard on the IOW. Push that off into the continent and we'd get some very cold North easterlies! I'm just praying it doesn't follow the same path as the low we're currently being bothered by.
  9. A week today and you'll be still trying to dig yourself out from the Monday snows if the 12z GFS comes off!
  10. Temp 3.6c and 1.6c dp here in northern hampshire. Lots of rain ...
  11. Cracking 0z GFS run once we've got rid of the remnants of our turkey curry! GFS is consistently bringing back cold conditions from Wed 30th. A brisk NE'rly on new years eve is on the cards.
  12. My thoughts exactly can't see anywhere near 8c tomorrow. Currently -6.7c here; the huge dump of snow we had yesterday is still here --15 cm. Roads still a nightmare - I'm 5 miles north of Basingstoke - and although the A roads are OKish now the secondary roads are still bad and think 4x4 for most of the country lanes.
  13. -6.5C here in very snowy north hampshire. We often get lowish temps here in Bramley being in a slight hollow --- but this has really suprised me! Worrying now abot my various palms in the garden -- my butia eriospatha won't like it.
  14. GFS minimum temps shown for tonight around here are -2C. Its already -3.9C!! Does GFS not take account of snow cover? Snowy Sherborne St John -- a couple of miles outside Basingstoke
  15. Thanks mum I'm off to bed now. I'm quite excited about Santa because I've been a very good boy this year!
  16. You must be a bit too far East at the mo. But it really is still snowing here in North Hampshire ...it's the only reason I'm still up at nearly midnight.
  17. Steady moderate snow falling here/ verging on heavy at times. Does that help??
  18. To be fair, I followed a gritter for a couple of miles just before lunch which was giving the Sherfield on Loddon to Bramley road a good dose of salt n grit. An hour later it rained washing it all away, froze and started snowing. When I went down it at 4pm it had a good 1 -2 inches of snow on it with ice underneath. Nightmare.
  19. Hi and welcome Meso. Where are you?? If you go into your profile you can add your location.
  20. I know the London Colney Savacentre ; so I've sent it that way. Hope that helps. I aim to please.
  21. Have you been to Basingstoke??? Trust me .... they're trapped!!
  22. Sympathise Justinflavin it was bad enough when I went down to Sherborne St John mid afternoon. My good deed for the evening iinvolved a shovel and a lady in a car -- no tea though. What part of the Basingstoke area are you in?
