  1. Been v.light drizzle/sleet here for the last hour or two. Now moderate snow again adding to the 5 - 6 inches we had earlier. (I'm about 5 mls south of Reading/ 5 miles north of Basingstoke). I'll nudge it your way Saint.
  2. Yep, I'd given up on more but down it comes again. Unreal! My biggest issue now (with 3 boys on their school holidays) is where is the best place for sledging?
  3. Ok I said enough was enough..... Tobogganing with the kids tomorrow, I'm loving it really ... the more the better  but it'll play havoc with my Christmas BBQ duck
  4. Likewise .... have we got more to come?? We've been dumped on huge time today.... enough is enough ..I'm doing a Christmas BBQ and these conditions could play havoc!!!
  5. Ok so maybe I should be in South Central .... but this could be heading your way. Chucking it down with snow here between Basingstoke and Reading since 1pm. Roads, are all covered with a good couple of inches and are a nightmare ... even with my winter tyres. All very festive
  6. Still snowing....lots Roads a bit dicey! Looks like Christmas time here!
  7. Alto I've just driven down the road from Bramley to Sherborne St John and back to collect my son. All the roads round here, including these secondary routes are now covered in a good 1- 2 inches of snow. Many cars slipping and sliding all over the place. I've got winter tyres on mine (skiing trip in Jan) which makes a huge difference ; bound to be a nightmare for people getting home from work.......and its still snowing heavily.
  8. Huge flakes here coming down v heavily ---- and settling everywhere!
  9. like you Stormforce we've now got sleet. Even worse than rain ... its painfully close to being a snow event. EDIT --- It's SNOWING!!!! :o Big Wet flakes. EDIT AGAIN ----Now Heavy thick SNOW!!
  10. Anyone got anything interesting to say about todays RAIN event?? Seems wet and cold to me ... it looks like rain.....it feels like rain.....it probably is rain (everywhere down south)...roll on Christmas!
  11. you'll be fine -- started snowing moderately here about 20 mins ago. (about 5 miles north of Basingstoke) Laying everywhere and getting blown around a lot in a v strong wind. Should be with you in half an hour or so!
  12. Roger ...... how could you say such things. El Presidente Big Gordon is even heading out early ..... No doubt he's set on saving the world again!!
  13. Jump in the car and head up to Butser Hill ...inland and a bit of altitude should do the trick.
  14. Its grim up north Badboy. You'll be fine down in Pompey .... back in the early 80s (can't remember which year) I remember walking to school along Tangier Rd ... on top of a 4ft hedge which was covered by a snow drift....... followed by some late afternoon skiing on Portsdown hill!! - I jest not... and if that doesn't come off this time, Butser hill is always a good bet. As to moaning about the models, some people need to get a grip because we haven't seen anything this good for years.
  15. UKMO and ECM seem great....and this GFS run does seem to be moving towards that ..... looking foward to the 06z run already!! (It's really coming to something when I wake at 5am to check up on the lateast GFS run -- the wife thinks I've lost it .... and is promising me an anorak and straight-jacket from Santa!)
  16. Hoping that the low over Finland at T+126 will start to inject that colder air from the NE
  17. Some of the more expensive deicing kits should do the trick.
  18. -1.2c and all flights in and out of Copenhagen delayed by snow News footage of that should really convince folk that warming is a reality.
  19. Is my email to the Daily Express the kiss of Death??
  20. Where's this come from?? Torrential rain here, pitch black and the lights are flickering.
  21. Gordon is at it again ---saving the world....again. He's becoming a regular superhero, first our finances and now our climate. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8314044.stm Surely sound-bites like this do nothing to help the climate change message being taken seriously. Politicians coming out with stuff like this just turns the public off and gets people doubting the science. What do others think?
  22. Strange.... the sloes around here are like golf balls this year!! I've just stuffed a couple of large carrier bags full in the freezer and am off to buy 6 or 7 bottles of cheap gin.
  23. Thunder, lightning, rain here -- 4 rumbles in the last couple of minutes alone. Oh and my conservatory is leaking! Happy days!
