  1. I see a freeze overnight. Precip fizzling out now , if skies clear then very icy in the morning
  2. ICON 18z at 120 about a 50 mile shift south 0z isotherm .. Keeping a close eye on a possible round 2 come Monday.. Mogreps shows a couple of ensembles dropping the low south too .. early days.
  3. i do wonder, if the snow falling that's not settling on roads, concrete etc.. will this be nicking heat out of the surfaces and cooling them? could be very icy in the morning if skies clear during the night.. would also make for a readily receptive surface for the main course
  4. Will never forget that day.. had a superb dumping of snow in a very strong easterly wind.. HP over Scandinavia and a low bumping into it led to a stalling front that pivoted and was totally epic,, i was living in Leeds at the time and drove up the M62 onto Pennines ,,was like Siberia up there and there drifts were really deep.
  5. Nice looking radar, ligh blues turning darker blue to hints of green. The dry slot that appeared from Humber to Manchester rapidly closing now . What's going on ?
  6. Cripes, didnt see the front you have pepping up and making a sudden move north. Come to think of it neither did ant high res percipitation models ( Did they?) Defo watching developments
  7. Looking quite active over east coast at moment.. some beefy showers moving in... wonder if they will have any legs on them to penetrate quite a way inland
  8. Actually, just adding to my earlier post, UKMO does have the low further south on Monday.. One to watch maybe, we might need a top up on what is coming LOL
  9. Well that was a day of surprises.. considering we were meant to be virtually dry all day. great to see the updates to Amber warnings as well. Been in York earlire today and was pleasantly surprised to see it snowing.. couldn`t wait to get back home to look at radar... Meant to be In Wombwell, South Yorks this evening around 9.30pm for an hour or so..( work reasons) .. im wondering whether or not to bother Plenty of snow chances to follow after tomorrow/fri humdinger as well. I was actually wondering it the low on Monday had any chance of correcting south? What do you lovely people think!
  10. So Last post tonight.. alarm set for 5am .. pfftt GFS plonks this rugby ball on us at T132... and all just for fun of course, who would hazard a guess that this would have southerly corrections.. would be amazing if that verified further south
  11. T60 ... Perfection We are all in the game and it looks almost like the met warning area too.. sleep tight all
  12. Totally Agree, York is in the middle of a very wide valley, in my neck of woods not too far east of Pennines. Just hoping for no further southwards corrections now as well
  13. Just a quick comparison from Mogreps 06 v 12z for North and South Yorkshire snow rates York first.. Still some members in there with heavy snow but the control loses heart by the 12z, Still no reason at the moment to rule anything out though! Now for the fun part if your in South Yorkshire. 06z was wild enough for snow looking at that , then the 12z just goes bezerk for you guys
  14. Just a thought, as the front moves in with the associated low.. is it possible it could stall and pivot, just like in March 2013.
  15. What an epic run from GFS this evening.. Just BOOM all the way.. and at 210 finishes off with a blizzard!! Just had to post on mod thread just to let them know there is a north ya know. I think its about time we see some snow after barely anything in our region the whole of winter.. even if it is spring i dont care, Just hoping we get some snow for once
  16. Agreed!! Total whiteout for northern England on this run, but with model volatility as it is probably all gone next run
  17. Can I ask .. what does this the blue in the red circle mean... i think it means a westerly burst but not sure. Can clearly see downwelling impact on the trop before it which lasts about five days,, then as in the ECM shows the atlantic making inroads, is this just from the first downwelling and should we expect to see the westerlies subside again later on in the month?
  18. Mogreps 06z dropping colder quicker, here the 00z Vs 6z Inverness (Same for Leeds down to London..) i`ll take that as an upgrade!!
  19. Mogreps this morning don`t seem to be as good as yesterdays but still interest in there despite an increase in the scatter for better or for worse. Inverness, Leeds and London for balance and the 850`s @168 for comparison.
  20. Hi Matt, You beat me to it.. i was just about to post the same , a definate clear trend for colder air travelling south as mogreps also showed on the ooZ ECM control thinking the same thing for Aberdeen as well Just a quick look at the uppers from UKM and ECM Ops this morning don`t quite show it as that cold . I wonder if we will see some little upgrades on the 12z
