  1. you can see how its really wrapped up in the last 18 hours on the 10m wind charts most of the precipitation looks to be on the eastern flank so unless this changes and with the current forecast path it might not be too much of a soaker
  2. Hurricane Central â€@twc_hurricane 29m Tropical Storm Arthur: 5 PM ET, 70 mph winds, 992 mb, moving at 7 mph. http://wxch.nl/r1tYL6 updated track and hurricane warnings now issued for parts of the Carolinas looking good on animation
  3. some pics from ryan maue and joe b from twitter joe b talking possibility of a cat 2-3 hitting the outer banks at 48 hours heres a few radar images which show the eye feature
  4. well it was all downhill today starting cloudy then the winds picked up and been raining on and off for a while but the polmont station down the road still got to 20.4c so at least it didn't feel cold. that's the gardening off now till it settles down trying to put membrane down for chippings is a real pain in the back side with that wind so gave up and not even going to attempt it again till the wind drops off got really sick of chasing things round the garden.
  5. tonight the CPC 500mb charts are showing an interesting set up more so once we get to the 8-14 day range and if we were to see a similar pattern set up at sea level then we could see winds from an easterly direction and dominantly dry up here. below is the CPC 500mb 6-10 day and 8-14 day now if we look at the 8-10 day range from both the ECM and GFS below is the 0z run and the 12z runs and we can see clearly the CPC are siding with the GFS over the ECM which has went a totally different direction through the day. the GFS then goes on to its 11 day at both 500mb and 700mb looking promising now none of the models go in this direction yet on the set up we see but we have time for that to change if we were to see something like this and if we do really manage it in the 7 and 8 day range the GFS has some pretty good temps building over eastern Europe and western Russia also Scandinavia which we could possibly tap in to. although as we all know it could go a totally different way but just one to watch.
  6. well the last couple of days have been decent after it cooling off for a while got the polmont station just down the road back online and it got to 22.2c yesterday and with unbroken sunshine today it topped out at 25.7c hopefully it will last another few days so I can keep getting on with my garden as I'm hoping by the end of this summer I will have a maintenance free garden the bark chippings get delivered tomorrow so spent most of today getting the front garden weed free ready to start getting it laid out and hopefully the rest of the summer will play ball and come autumn all I will have to do garden wise is cut the grass happy days lol.
  7. cant remember where I saw mine. I have seen things posted on twitter and in articles showing the last few years have been on s slight cooling trend but its whether to believe them or not will look up that thread though don't know if this has been posted here yet some great pics in the daily mail of Kilauea http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2670825/Theres-lava-end-rainbow-Amazing-pictures-Hawaiian-volcano-erupting-elements-striking.html
  8. may was the warmest may on record I'm sure I read somewhere that april was around the 5th or 6th warmest april on record and even though may was warmest on record it was only either the 258th or 285th warmest month on record cant remember what way round the 5 and 8 were but it was defo in the 2 hundreds.
  9. good to see plenty of people out enjoying the skiing in the middle of summer maybe not as much snow but longer daylight hours for them to enjoy you should repost it in here as well its a thread for snow in the Scottish mountains http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/79301-snow-on-the-scottish-mountains-2014/page-5 the sun is back out here today after a few days of it missing most of the time, temps might not be what they have been lately when the sun is shining but at least its fresher and not so humid stirling station currently at 16.8c polmont one is still screwed up though.
  10. snow in june in Norway and settled on the ground http://www.icenews.is/2014/06/22/snow-in-june-only-in-norway/ http://iceagenow.info/2014/06/record-snowfall-norway/
  11. saw this on twitter and had to add it in here as I couldn't stop laughing hope none of you women are thinking of going to Glastonbury and any guys going take the bum shield just incase
  12. models have been a little all over the place lately but I have been keeping an eye on the CPC 500mb charts and they don't seem that bad I don't have any from the last few days I tried looking in the archives but cant seem to get them but over the last few days the charts have been showing some weak low pressure anomalies but like we see in the BBC forecasts when it runs out to Thursday these look to be going further south towards the south of England latest CPC 500mb charts are showing high pressure being anchored to the northwest its there on the 6-10 day chart and again but slightly weaker on the 8-14 day chart but as it progresses towards us this could become a stronger anomaly as it has a tendency to do at times now we see on both charts the lower pressure that may make it through to the British isles looks to be heading towards the southwest so looks like we may see the better of the drier weather up this way and the wetter stuff could be further south and should this pattern come to fruition and stick around we may see further flooding concerns for southern England if the atlantic revs up like seems to be the norm in the last few years not knock out charts for heat and temps would probably be around average on a set up like this possibly a degree or so below average but if it stays relatively dry I would accept that for now.
  13. yes but heat content is on the drop so doesn't look like any super nino it will probably be a weak to moderate nino overall
  14. yesterday was first time the weather station I check in stirling was below 20c at 19.5c probably due to amount of cloud but today it reached 21.1c and there was more sunshine today still no reading from polmont which I hate as its closer to where I am than the stirling one. really need to get my own station but have bills coming out my ears but as soon as possible I'm going to get one so I can tell my own temps and see just how bad the winter hotspot is compared to everywhere else lol.
  15. ah right thought you had seen or been told something and it was due to snow lol. June snow isn't out of the question though just look at 1975 and a lot of places in eastern Europe have been seeing snow lately as well as parts of the northern states.
  16. saw this on twitter so thought I would add it here Sean Batty â€@SeanBattySTV 17m Loving the solstice snow on Ben Nevis today during my hike for @stvappeal #hifling
  17. well it just got cloudier as the day went on and seems to have affected the temps Stirling only got to 19.6c today. some great footage of a tornado a few days ago in Turkey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9RQQk6tAQE
  18. I was meaning more on just a football front I should have worded it better but I was pretty drunk at the time we were having a SCOTLAND MIGHT NOT BE THERE BUT AT LEAST THE ENGLISH SCREWED UP AGAIN party and costa rica beating Italy just put the icing on the cake last night and its always good to see an underdog doing things that people have said would never happen and sending the old enemy home was the best part about it. maybe come 2016 if wee ginger Strachan keeps doing the same kind of job he did for celtic and seems to be carrying on with the national team then we can be part of it as well (same group as England would do me fine then) better add some weather in - braw here that big shiny yellow thing is making appearances again today but a little more of the white fluffy stuff around blocking out the blue above. stirling station at 18.8c and the polmont one still hasn't moved from yesterday morning so no reading on that.
  19. not weather but have to say well done to COSTA RICA. not only for ensuring England are on the earliest flight home but for showing us that small nations in the world like ourselves can do wonderful things as costa rica from the 2011 census had a population of 4.5 million and is only around half the size of Scotland and has independence and goes things alone and with no outside help or hindrance just passion pride and belief and that's all you need to succeed in this world.
  20. looks like another lovely day today with the sun shining and a few clouds rolling around stirling currently at 17.3c cant tell what the polmont station is at it isn't showing past 9:53am there probably doing some work on it. looks like the settled weather could persist for a while I picked this up on twitter its the 10 day precipitation accumulation from the ECM and it shows we aren't going to see a whole lot of moisture in the coming period also saw this on twitter last night and thought it looked cool its a high shot from above of a storm cloud building over the appilation mountains (hope that's spelt correctly)
  21. its been officially released that cupar hit 27c yesterday and made it the highest temp of the year so far across the whole of the UK.
  22. not as humid today but still pretty hot out there I was getting a heating system put in today and thought I would sit out back and leave them get on with it well that was a big mistake I'm totally burnt and my neck feels like its on fire. pretty unbroken sun all day currently 23.7c on the polmont station a little cooler at 20.5c in stirling but they have managed to get as high as 22.1c so still decent temps even though it has cooled off a bit if we had got sun all day yesterday like its been today it would have been a lot warmer but its probably best we had cloud first thing yesterday as it was hot enough.
  23. Split, Croatia yesterday oh why cant we get storms like these that's some amount of lightning
  24. looks like 27.3c might be the max for the day on the weather stations I check stirling only got to 26.2c polmont http://polmontweather.co.uk/wx.html stirling http://www.wunderground.com/swf/Rapid_Fire.swf?units=both&station=ISTIRLIN5
