  1. some hefty showers firing on radar up near Montrose high so far at polmont station 27.3c so higher than yesterday if it wasn't for that cloud this morning it could have been really special.
  2. same here with the growth but I am hoping it will slow down a bit after tomorrow when the humidity drops, I've already decided I'm going to bark chip my whole garden and just leave the grass weeding really does my head in. 26.7c on the polmont station now so think we will pass yesterday and I'm hoping for just over 28c or even pushing 29c would be good. EDIT: warmest day of the year polmont now at 27c and stirling one has hit 26c
  3. ah LORENZO you just know its going to blow in a big way and shut down all the airports now you have said that lol
  4. 25.2c now a 2.6c rise since just after 1 o'clock and I am sure my highest temp from yesterday wasn't achieved till around half 4 or 5 o'clock.
  5. yeah mate it would be good especially with the weather patterns just now if it did go we could see ash falling widely over the uk.
  6. magnitude 3.1 earthquake in middle of katla caldera at 1.8km depth Wednesday 18.06.2014 10:20:53 63.653 -19.163 1.8 km 3.1 99.0 4.5 km ENE of Goðabunga that 5.3 mag in the northwest seems to have disappeared from the charts so will be a little sceptical of this one for now but if its real it could be katla stirring.
  7. yeah looks like you might have a good chance of getting there possibly even a little higher if you keep the sun all afternoon. temps rocketing here that's 22.6c now a 1.4c rise in around 20 mins.
  8. yeah possibly but think we may get around there anyway in 22 mins its risen 1.2c to 20.4c so may have a shot still even though there was cloud in the morning I can see somewhere in Scotland maybe hitting that 28c today. EDIT: now 21.2c temps rising nicely.
  9. well the sun is finally poking its head out at last and temps starting to rise 19.2c on both stations I check but think it will struggle to beat the 26.8c recorded at polmont yesterday but if we get unbroken sunshine all afternoon we may get close will just need to wait and see how we get on.
  10. bit of a cloudy start for a lot of us in the central belt but the cloud is thinning just now and the sun should break through shortly http://www.meteoradar.co.uk/home/satellite_UK_and_Ireland currently 18c
  11. WOW WOW WOW! Jim Cantore â€@JimCantore 19m Wt.. ! MT@jeremy_hamann: @tornadotrackers: The brief moment of 3 TORNADOES on the ground north of Pilger, NE #newx pic.twitter.com/YOfYh2eI4Q
  12. 5.3 mag earthquake in northwest Iceland seems to be a single quake wonder if its tectonic or is there anything volcanic up there. http://en.vedur.is/earthquakes-and-volcanism/earthquakes/snaefellsnes/
  13. the BBC thinking theres potential for 27c through central belt tomorrow I wonder if somewhere might break 28c or 29c. BBC Scotland Weather â€@BBCScotWeather 39m There's the potential for 27C through the Central Lowlands tomorrow. 81F. Hope you're enjoying the weather, Night night. JR
  14. saw this on twitter and I know its not about summer weather but there is a chance of seeing low level snow in south Africa in the coming days and although snow is common in south Africa its usually in high elevations and is a rare sight at lower levels but should it snow this will be the second low level snow event in south Africa in 3 years the previous being in august 2012. Ryan N. Maue â€@RyanMaue 22m Thursday, cold, dry airmass over southern African continent. Any precip along S. Africa coast could be snow/mixed. pic.twitter.com/bcKkRWNMWn
  15. stirling also breached the 26c mark today with a high of 26.1c its mad to think we are getting this brilliant hot weather and theres been snow falling in Sweden, Finland and Russia. also some of the northern states are to see 1-2 feet of snow mostly over the higher ground but that's still something at this time of year.
  16. been a few more good breaks through the afternoon the station down the road at polmont is showing highest value of 26.8c currently sitting at 26.7c. hopefully more showers build now and become more potent.
  17. couple more things from matt hugo on twitter Matthew Hugo â€@MattHugo81 8m EC seasonal model updated today, similar from previous; weak signal for higher pressure through rest of the summer/temps slightly above avg and good to see I am not the only one with one eye on winter already Matthew Hugo â€@MattHugo81 8m For Oct/Nov/Dec as a whole it signals higher pressure over Scandinavia. That would get all 'cold fans' off to a good start if it verifies. of course October through December is a long way off and will probably change but its good to have some encouragement and some reasonable news at this point EDIT: high for today so far now 26.3c showers now starting to fire on radar around Dundee and east fife.
  18. I've only ever seen one little spin up a few years ago think it was 2009 when I stayed in Kirkcaldy. yeah I wouldn't like to see one coming for me it would be a follow through situation luckily though we don't really have to deal with all that much dangerous stuff when it comes to weather compared to other parts of the world. 25.3c on the polmont station which is hotter than yesterday as it only reached 24.8c so hottest day here as well the stirling one is only sat at 24c which is weird you would think with a northerly flow stirling would be pretty sheltered but it could just be cloud amounts or I even wonder if in a northerly flow stirling might get some colder air falling off the hills and just pegging things back a little we will see how they both max out later though.
  19. few things I spotted on twitter the heat in Europe on the way out and what a difference a couple of weeks makes hopefully this will swap again and we can get the heat building after the cool down this from matt hugo on twitter showing the convective threat area for this afternoon and evening Matthew Hugo â€@MattHugo81 1h Convective threat this afternoon, especially S Uplands and down into parts of the far N of Eng...Local thunder poss. pic.twitter.com/vCo3wP8shg and northernrab shown a nice pic of a little spin up inverness way this is something out of Nebraska yesterday with twin tornados which then went on to both gang up and rip a town to pieces
  20. the only thing I have had all year is one crack of thunder don't even know if there was any lightning with it didn't see anything but if theres thunder there must have been some lightning. so I am hoping something can hit later even if its only an average thunder and lightning shower that we would usually see rolling around.
  21. good to hear because that's the direction its coming from its just a shame your watching that knowing theres little chance of getting anything up there hopefully one day we will get a day where the whole of Scotland goes bang in a big way. yeah a storm would be nice 23.7c here and the sun has just come out again was out doing the garden as it had clouded over then the minute the sun came out things just turned instantly into a sweat fest so think i'll leave it to a little later when the sun isn't quite as strong.
  22. 23c on the weather station along in polmont and its clouded over a bit which has slowed down the rate of climb with temps a little bit but its still on the move up. netweather 10 day forecast for me has the little lightning sign for me for 13:00 to 16:00 and 16:00 to 19:00 with 60% chance of storms so hopefully will see a little something later in the day.
  23. from looks of it cloud is moving down from the north hopefully the highlands will do the job for us and break it up keeping the sun shining it does look like its fragmenting as it moves south http://www.meteoradar.co.uk/home/satellite_UK_and_Ireland
  24. clear skies and sun beating down this morning the polmont weather station already at 20.7c hopefully it can keep building through this afternoon and at least breach 26c hopefully more. make that 21.5c that's a 0.8c rise in just 23 mins lets see how high we go.
