Any one have any idea what could have triggered a pulse line of small storms that moved from Stoke-on-Trent all the way to Luton???  Some sort of weird convergence zone?

If you run the radar images back and forth quickly (do it manually not with the animate button) you can see whatever it is racing down in almost a perfectly straight line in a SE direction triggering storms as it went......

Sounds like an outflow boundary has set them off. Also any reason that storm in Liverpool has sat there for an hour.

Quite an active line of storms off western France, drifting NNE, if these continue across NW France and English Channel, wouldn't be surprised if Met O issue upgrade warning for SE England as storms may co-incide with rush hour

... and yes, have to pinch yourself that it's mid October. But it's 25-26C and humid across central France right now, so plenty of fuel

They have just issued an amber thunderstorm warning now

I would think slightly further west would be best favoured but plume type thunderstorm set ups are very difficult to forecast with total accuracy. If I was going to stick my neck out I would say Brighton, through central London and up the M11 at a guess.

Supercell if you are near the Ashdown forest area send me an pm I know of some good viewing spots there.
