Right, I don’t want to cause any alarm so early on a Monday Morning BUT.............
Weve has a theft!!! Some sneaky so and so has sneaked around overnight and pinched all my snow...
Booo..... if it hadn’t been for Mr Snowman( who looking decidedly worse for wear) you wouldn’t know what a great day yesterday was....
Still, there’s always the memories

Well today was cracking and especially wonderful for me.
Yound Dr(s) No got to go out and play in the snow for his first time.
Exciting for any child( and the big ones too!) but really exciting for him.
8 1/2 yrs old and his first time. Any other snow opportunity has seen him attached to his pumps, unwell or just not mobile enough to manage but TODAY was perfect.... last long enough, was crisp enough and was deep enough to donall the snowy things you should do through your childhood!
He May only have lasted only 20 minutes or so but it was a joy to behold and his wee face will stay with his old dad forever.
‘mon the weans!!!

I don’t wish to ramp up the expectations here..
But, the sky just went all dark there and we had a rather heavy shower of wet snow down here in Helensburgh.
This had resulted in a whopping 1 mm of slush on the cars!!!
The excitement is there for all to see.... the joys of living down at the coast!!

Do you know what?
Im actually rather impressed with Winter so far.
Following a very seasonal Autumn and a decent number of November frosts.
Checking records...So far in December I’ve had 19 nights of frost... so most windscreen scraping for years!
Lowest night temp was -8c and lowest daytime -2c
Not bad for a town next to the water
And now we’ve had a fabby fall of snow... bloomin brilliant!
So, all things considered, an impressive start to Winter 17/18.... and some interesting signs that we could well see some more cold weather in January.... next weekend starting to look good although early days..

Currently on M80 in a blizzard Near Stirling A good 5 cm here. Must say (as a southerner) I’m really impressed with all the snow ploughs and fritters. Have seen about 10 in last hour from Carlisle. Down saft it would be gridlock! Anyone know how the A9 is looking ?
Stay safe Tim... some real bad weather your way.
Anyhow just for reference
Here’s a gritter
And this is a fritter.....Tasty but not much use in a blizzard

Tomorrow night is looking like the coldest night for a long while in Scotland with some widespread severe frost ( following an ice day in many places ) ...could somewhere get down to -15c?
Not too shabby for December and certainly it’s been a much more seasonal end to Autumn and beginning of Winter..

The fine mesh model we use for snow prediction amounts for our location was 27cm for the 12 hour period to 9am this morning. This measurement taken outside the apartment was taken at I hour ago. Just amazing prediction within a forecast confine of 2 km sq. The measurement if you cannot see it is , guess what ..27cm!!

But Ice Man surely you can see the irony in talking about the ‘reliable’ and then writing off the next 6 weeks?
