Sparky met eireann mention snow in parts of ulster tomorrow as well though it doesn't look like it will amount to much. Low pressure system looks more south since this mornings met warning so unless it changes again I reckon the warning will be removed. Shame really.

MS your prediction of snow about a week ago for Boxing Day may not be too far from the mark. And yes Njoy the weather we have is true. At least it feels like Xmas today. Lovely hard frost snd everywhere white!

There's the upgrade from the met office for snow that I mentioned could happen last night. 1-2 cms now possible even for low lying areas. Still time for further upgrades but of course downgrades as well. But I'm not expecting downgrades now to be honest. We may actually see a bit is snow. !

No Xmas cheer with the output this morn. It really is a shocker for coldies. And it has to be said the models have been horrific of late in remotely getting anything right within 72 hrs! They have been abysmal. Merry Xmas though to all

Ref snow warning. There is a chance this could upgrade nearer the time though it is a delicate situation. Interesting times ahead next couple days and then into new year. Merry Xmas to everyone and hope Santa is good to all.

At the min just rain for us but the way the models are going dont be surprised to see things change as they normally do nearer the time. GFS has done a complete you turn

It is getting ridiculous now. Now models hinting at an easterly. Fun to watch though. Never remember a time there has been so many confusing signals. Anything is still possible to be honest. !!

I'm not saying they don't put effort in nor am I saying that LRF by several people is a waste of time. What I'm saying is more times than not LRF are a very slim guide to what actually happens in the weather! No matter what positives signals we have in strat and models etc really anything past 160 hrs is to be taken with a pinch of salt! The weather really will do what it wants and no super computers seem very good at forecasting that. I'm not saying we won't get snow but what I think is it will be very hard to come by a proper cold spell this year. But I hope I'm wrong of course. Wouldn't be surprised if models flip again in a week because really anything past a week in models now I pay no attention no.

Ha ha john. It's just totally frustrating. People that follow the weather regularly know now that there outlook changes on a day to day basis. However the normal Tom, dick and Harry who check their website must be at wits end to actually come to a decision what the forecast is supposed to be. These guys in the met office are professionals and to me their website outlook is sending utterly confusing signals to the general public. I hate to say it and I mean to offence to them but is it any wonder their is that many jokes about weathermen and how inaccurate they are at times!! But your right they basically just state what the models show and gone has their professional personal input. Anyway let's hope the models flip back to that invisible northerly they managed to see!!!

And their outlook flips completely today again. Honestly is there any point in them issuing these to the general public. It's a complete joke! Everybody yest was astounded by that update and couldn't figure it out ! Super computers. Give me a break. What a joke

As I expected meto update removes any aspect of snow generally right up to middle jan!! No idea were they came up with the snow outlook yest. As iv said before I really fear for this winter and it could turn out on a power to last years woeful attempt. U can have all things going for u but in this island sometimes it borders on impossible to get cold weather. Ah well least we don't have to keep our hopes up because that outlook is an absolute shocker for coldies. As MS stated a lot of people who are well respected are going to have eggs on their faces in relation to their winter forecasts. The weather really does what it wants.

Would be astounded if yest meto outlook which was indicating a good northerly flow with good snow chances is there today. I expect a complete reversal more in line with dry cold as opposed to snow and cold. That update really did baffle me yest. Hence why I never really pay much attention to their daily updates. Changes like the wind to be fair.

Save the ramp bobbarley for a few days yet. Could all change !

Nice update from meto in their outlook though. Though we have been here before. Something is brewing. But your right MS anything can happen.

Just don't go in pomeroysnow. All doom and gloom. Now going for westerly end of year. SSW now end jan. But to me from now on I'm just looking 4 days ahead. Anything could happen. That's my view.

I literally pay no attention this update nor further outlook bacause like models it changes with the wind. I don't look any further than 4 dsys ahead because let's be honest nobody has a clue at the minute! Only 3 days ago they were talking about significant snow in north then snow showers up to new year!! Honestly pay no attention to it.

Then January becomes mid jan to late jan, then early feb to middle to late feb, then early march and then,BANG it's spring. Another winter chasing gone. Sound familiar!

Yeah as I feared the other day MS I should have stuck to my guns. I just couldn't see it happening but got sucked into the hype. Not only does it look shocking at the mo for next couple of weeks the extended forecast looks shocking and the strat update is now a shocker as well. Fully expect meto update to change very shortly. Even with all the positives ref background signals and strat we still cannot get good cold potential in this country. As I said the other day I fear for this year and don't think it will be to far from last years wipeout. It will be hard to get snow on the ground. Poor ronan and pomeroysnow. They will be gutted . And well done ECM. Deserves credit if it gets this right. Time will tell
