  1. Well I feel your pain guys. I'm off to Chicago and boston for a week on 9th feb so have an eye on the charts for then. Hoping for brutal cold and snow though doesn't look like it presently though long time for that to change.
  2. Meto now dropped cold period with snow in mid feb! Thank god Iv seen snow in that case otherwise this would have been a dreadful winter for us ! Sorry to the ones that have missed last 5 days though. Snow has been brilliant inland and elevated areas!
  3. Yeah looks like winter going out in a whimper! Not surprised. Ah we'll ,roll on summer now in thy case.
  4. I'm not too despondent with the pending westerlies inbound. We have had at least 5 inches on the ground since fri and all still here. Been abetter cold spell than last one in 2010-11 which was colder but less snowy for me. Having said that hope more snow middle feb! Would be icing on the cake for me
  5. Well bbc newsline had the snow stooped at 7pm !! So it will snow all night in that case! Maybe just another SHOWER!
  6. It is indeed mountain shadow. Quality snowfall. Another very shower heading down towards you now I think as well
  7. I love the headline on bbc Northern Ireland news "Roads affected by heavy snow showers" !!! Well if a snow shower lasts for ten hrs which it has in Saintfield I would love to know their definition of " PROLONGED SNOW"!! We would all be extinct by now!! Crazy statement from a very poor forecast by them! Havnt had snow like this in years. Beats Fridays hands down!
  8. Chucking down in Saintfield again after 30 min respite. Still havnt left work! It's soo deep here!
  9. Totally agree mountain shadow! This is way worse than fri! I have 5-6 inches on my car from this morn and do u see the heavy streamer forming towards the east coast and hitting u know! I'm still in Saintfield and its chucking down with snow! Disgrace an amber warning wasn't issued
  10. Roads blocked and closed around carryduff, Saintfield and higher parts of Lisburn!! GlEngormley and around there bad too. This really should have been an amber warning by the met office. It's as bad if not worse here than Friday!! Grid lock coming out of Belfast up the hill to carryduff
  11. Very heavy snow again in Saintfield. I would say there is 3-4 inches of fresh snow on the cars that have been here all day. Been solid heavy snow since 10-30 this morning and doesn't look to be easing any. Cannot believe its heavy rain in Belfast. Bizarre
  12. Still snowing away in Saintfield. for anybody travelling through Saintfield towards ballynahinch avoid, as the road in Saintfield is blocked with cars trying to get up the hill at Vivo in the village centre. Snow stopped for 5 mins but coming down heavy again.
  13. It's unreal. Honestly this is twice as heavy as fri!! The flakes are just huge! I hope everyone gets this. Mountain shadow, leave work now as carryduff will be mental if Saintfield is like this! Coming down in torrents !
  14. This is heavier than fri !! What a surprise. They forecast light snow but this is ridiculous. The flakes are HUGE! Work thinking about sending people home here in Saintfield and my daughter school now closing! Lovely lovely surprise how heavy this is. Just brilliant. If I don't see snow rest of winter I will be happy still had 3 inches on ground from fri now it's getting a brilliant top up!
  15. Very very heavy snow in Saintfield! Heavier than fri! Prob won't last though. Lying everywhere
  16. My take is dublin probably will not see very much to be honest. Although the precipitation does appear to be intensifying over the Irish Sea it fragments somewhat as it nears the coast. I really cannot see this amounting to very much apart from a few cms over the hills and do not think it will make much inroads inland whatsoever. For all do get to see some today make the most of it as no guarantee when or if another cold spell on the cards yet.
  17. Yes mountain shadow. My friend advises me he drove through Saintfield and carryduff 20 mins ago a snowing quite heavy. Radar looks good for the east.
  18. Well to be honest I'm actually astounded to see a weather warning for snow for Northern Ireland or ireland . I really cannot see snow for anybody really and that includes the east coast. You need precipitation for snow and that is getting reduced by the minute on the radar. I think they are going to get this very wrong indeed. Latest bbc weather showed very little if any snow for anybody. But we will see
  19. Would love to know where this snow is coming from as the radar shows precipitation really struggling to make inroads into the coast at present. Doesn't bode we'll for those well inland hoping for snow!
