Light snow here with a temp of 1C.
-
Brighton @ 16:20
Lovely
-
Biggest flakes I have ever seen...some of these are an inch across....and it's beginning to settle, which I thought was impossible....how can snow settle on wet ground ??
confused and amazed at the same time...absolutely incredible stuff here on the S.Coast
I'd say its settling because its so heavy and pretty chilly, sadly will melt quite quickly if the ppn rate falls unless the temps drop down to freezing or below.
-
Bang right!
Who really cares??
-
Nice day here but snow thawing with a temp nearly at 1C, lots of dripping
-
Slight thaw here as the sun has appeared, temp just nudged above freezing.
-
Still snowing here lightly, that'll be 12 hours of constant snowfall temp -1C with very light N wind. What a great few days! What are chances for snow tomorrow?
-
-
It's -1C here and the snow is pretty heavy, small flakes.
-
Picking up here really good now.. Heavier stuff starting to move into London..
Am nicely surprised! Didn't think we would see snow this early

This is a France & UK rainfall loop, it will give a good idea of what is to come

My brother lives 40 miles north of Paris, he's had a few inches of snow overnight and says its still snowing there. Hopefully good for us
-
Snowing quite heavily here, all bare patches re-covered Temp -2C with a N wind.
-
I didn't realise that there was a thaw and then a reload of cold back in 63. Hope for us yet should things turn to the M word later next week. This programme is fascinating.
I'm now wondering what time to set of to Tunbridge Wells for the wedding tomorrow, should be an interesting drive!
Yes even the worst winters weren't solidly cold, there were brief milder interludes. Looking good for the next month or so I reckon with the SSW effects still to filter down

The charts I posted gives a ALL our region 4-10CM maybe more..
Nice charts!! Bring it on!!!
-
Nice one! I'm west north west of you, but we may just get 6 cm's here depending on the final track. What do you think?
Quite possible. Heathrow on alert for up to 6cm tomorrow. Just need the heavier stuff to push west a bit

To me it depends on what Winters you have experienced before....experience 1987, 1991 etc, ..If you havent your loving 2009/2010 and this winter...to me its been VERY ordinary compared to Winters past so FAR...Could get better...rating at moment.....5/10
Yes, I agree. This cold spell is loads better than anything we had for most of the 90s and 00s but a long way from the proper cold and snow depths the 80s brought, which I remember well. Another reason to bring back the 80s, the best music too

Very FI! But that would be warm spring sunshine

My scores for this cold spell are:
Synoptics: 8/10
Snow: 7/10
Frosts: 3/10
Total of 18/30 = 6/10
Synoptics were very interesting, great to get an all snow event from the W on Fri and unusual Synoptics on Sun delivered too.
Snow amounts here were good, measured 13cm on Fri and approx 4cm fell on Sun.
Frosts- well, here's where it went pear shaped for me, even though temps didn't rise above freezing Fri and Sun. Partial thaw Sat due to temps hitting 2C and again on Mon, with too much cloud at night preventing a good freeze. The cold spells of the 80s/early 90s were way colder and with much higher snow amounts, perhaps Feb will deliver? For now, mild is ok.
