  2. I think he was.....his avatar is distinctive I made a post in the Australian weather thread when his avatar caught my eye and I thought they haven't posted for awhile and got me wondering. .......not sure if raul_sbd is more winter orientated? That is the disconcerting part, the fact they were posting regularly then all of a sudden, nothing.
  3. 2018 2013 2022 2014, 2021 2015 2019 2016, 2017 2020 The best and the worst were obvious to me but the rest were not as clear cut especially those near the bottom. I didn’t rate last summer that highly. It didn’t stand out for me as 2018 did.
  4. The problem with the UK is that it is longer (north/south) than it is wide (east/west) and it is on a section of the earth where the curve does make more of a difference than it would have if the UK was further south. Its down to our geographical position on the Earth. Also you can't really compare northern France nor Belgium to the north of the UK. Belgium is a small country any case, makes little difference and as I mentioned before because where France is, the effect is less pronounce as it with the UK from south to north Length of daylight at winter solstice Nice: 8hrs 55mins Boulogne: 8hrs 15mins Penzance: 8hrs 3mins Aberdeen: 6hrs 40mins Arguments have been made for Scotland to have a different time zone to the rest of the UK but what about the far north of England, counties like Cumbria and Northumberland?
  5. Rainfall wise, pretty unremarkable. Dry records are very hard to beat.
  6. That's chilly for Alice Springs, hasn't got into double figures for at least 24 hours http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDD60801/IDD60801.94326.shtml
  7. After a very poor June, July 1971 was a pretty respectable summer month. Some data from this month Coventry: 226hrs of sunshine, 6 days with rainfall Edgbaston: 225.7hrs of sunshine, mean max temp: 17.6°C, highest temp: 27.7°C (11th), 35.6mm of rainfall Huddersfield: 205.2hrs of sunshine, mean temp of 16.8°C, rain on 9 days Watnall: 214.8 hrs of sunshine, mean temp of 17.1°C, rainfall: 64.1mm (35.5mm falling on one day) Bristol: 268.2hrs of sunshine, rainfall: 37.4mm of rainfall Keele Uni: mean temp of 16.2°C, 25.6mm of rainfall Liverpool: sunshine: 235.8hrs, rain on 9 days with 21.5mm of rainfall Birmingham Standard Notts

  12. A lot of Ireland/Northern Ireland look like they have a very thundery June.
  13. It looks some parts of the south west of the region have done better for thunder than supposedly more favourable parts over the Pennines and to the east.
  14. Get the feeling I'm going to go through the disconnect in the first band unless it fills in
