  2. Couldn't have been that many wet ones. It's one of the driest Augusts on record. 10th driest on record for England and Wales and 4th driest for the SE.
  3. I don't think it has been as bad as July 2020 up to now but I can only speak for my location but that was a shocker that first half (July 2020).
  4. Looks like thunder chances are disappearing. Missed most of the showers here.
  5. Greenwich in July 1913 only recorded 105 hrs of sunshine
  6. Outside any local records, July 1944 was the worst. An absolute shocker for sunshine.
  7. The Manchester 0z ECM ensembles are nothing to write home about. It is looking like it could be August for any hope of a return to summer
  8. Happy St Swithin's Day From a Kent paper in 1900 From a Bristol paper in 1873
  9. Regionally, June 2023 is the 3rd sunniest June on record, sadly July isn't going to be near that level of sunshine.

  11. 2nd July 2006 was a beast. It was a hot sultry day, cumulus clouds were developing during the afternoon then all of a sudden, it was like as if some had turned the tap on suddenly and it absolutely tipped it down. The rain was phenomenal, there was pea-sized hail and intense CG lightning, flash flooding. 3 hours later, it was sunny late evening and it looked as though nothing had happened.
  12. Apparently Venus is at its maximum brightness, which will explain why it may have been a bit more obvious.
  13. Can see Venus with sun still above horizon. It seems really clear this evening for some reason. You can see Venus in broad daylight if you know where to look. I have seen it when the sun was high up.
  14. This summer is nothing like summer 2012, that summer exploded on the launchpad before it even took off. This summer is like a probe that was successfully launched but we have lost contact with and is adrift. Can we reconnect with probe and ergo get the summer back on course?
