  2. Anthony Eden lasted less the 2 years but his premiership encompassed snow in May, a superb summer in 1955, a severe February in 1956, a diabolical summer in 1956, a white Christmas in 1956.
  3. Remember this from the Manchester Evening News from 9th August 1993. I'm pinching myself this was 30 years ago! The run finally broke on the 13th August 1993 I recall going to a great uncle's funeral during the last week of August 1993 and it was so chilly at the cemetery. Only got to 14°C
  4. However a storm being named is not done for flooding reason and was Whitby even given a warning?
  5. Justification for the low pressure to be named?
  6. Opposite here, it was the worst summer of the 1985-88 period. June was horrid, wettest month of the 1980s.
  7. August Bank Holiday 1986, now that was a washout, although it didn't start after noon 7th August 1987 was bad
  8. Grim fact is since the end of the meteorological summer of last year, it has been overall wet despite the periods of dry weather and we still got the rest of August. (September 2022-August 2023)
  9. Remember this day well. It was a Friday, it was cloudy, it was drizzly and it was freezing. Another rank day from the summer of 1987
  10. Did anyone anticipate how wet this July would turn out? Was there any indication that we were looking down the barrel? I had doubts about this summer in a post back in February fearing it would be more like from the 2007-12 summer grouping but the start of June dispelled my fears so I didn't expect July would turn out to be the wettest on record for NW England, wetter than July 1988.
