Some reports of snow in Bristol now, radar loop shows a N-NW movement, could be a direct hit for S/SE Wales. NAE shows heaviest snow at midnight-6am so it looks like this PPN could be quite slow.
Amber warnings aren't extending as far north or west as friday for the bulk of the valleys. Then again there are just a few miles in it so anything could happen.
Ian F said somewhere on the forum or twitter that the yellow ice warnings issued were instead warnings for snow but the met office didn't have enough confidence to issue a full snow warning.
Weather warnings about to be upgraded according to BBC24. It also showed the heavy snow further north and east into Wednesday AM, missing out on Cardiff and the valleys.. Likely to change though
Well I'm guessing this next band of PPN isn't the main band that's meant to hit until Wednesday AM? Whatever it is, it's intensifying and may hit us soon.
Only ended up getting 1 or 2 cm here but what an eventful night! Thunder snow, hail and snow from that bunch of showers over the SW. Hopefully it's a taster for what's to come from the main band tonight/tomorrow AM.
PPN over Devon moving northwards but more to the east this time, looks like SE Wales could have 1-3 more hours of snow depending how quick it moves through
And just as I say that and look outside... Heavy snow in Newport! Everything has a fine white dusting in just a few minutes. Quicker than Fridays snow cover.
M.O online forecast finally showing sleet for the early hours. Then further upgrades for Wednesday AM, heavy snow 0000-0600. All very confusing since the tv forecasts have been so brief and lacking.
Radar is good for Cardiff westwards! Looks like Newport might miss out for now, unless the band swings around a bit. Reports of rain or snow should be coming in any time now
I think it'll be rain for coastal areas unfortunately. We had a good 2 hours of heavy rain before the snow on Friday. This band of precipitation just isn't large enough to pull in low dew points from far afield or stay over us long enough for the transition. Hope I'm wrong!
